I seem to be taking the laptop with me everywhere lately now I’ve got mobile broadband…so liberating. After spending the morning ferrying kids around, this afternoon I got to planting out some of the vegetables and herbs I bought yesterday (I didn’t get around to the foofying up of the bench as I realised I didn’t have enough pots and that put me in a mood about that whole project). I decided to take my laptop out with me and tune in via the internet to Jonathan Ross, BBC Radio 2, I love his show and try to listen most weeks and what better way to listen than when sowing some love in the poor little cottage garden. I had one bed that was dug, semi-weed free and available so I got planting, computer in tow. Can you even imagine considering this option 10 yrs ago?? Gardening listening to a radio station 17,000 miles away with your computer happily by your side. Nope. I wouldn’t have imagined doing that at all. But there I was as proof. I wonder if the neighbours in their 80′s could hear me lmao at Jonathan’s delicious British sense of humour? If they did they probably thought I was going barmy.
After that the kids wanted to surf – so off we went to the beach, me rugged up in scarf, coat, and hat and a flask of tea, them in wetsuits (it’s winter here in Australia girlies) and they surfed for an hour. What a blissful moment, watching my kids living the good life, laying on the beach reading magazines & drinking tea…love the school holidays

You’ve gotta love technology!!
I forgot it is your winter. Just how cold does it get there? I suppose if the kids are still surfing, it can’t be too bad!!

I think you are a kindred spirit on the other side of the world! I love listening to Johnathon Ross on a sat am. I also agree that thrift shops should price their stuff at thrift shop prices – they were given it in the first place. There are two sides to a thrift shop – making money for the charity and also doing a service to the general public of supplying things at a reduced rate for those who cannot or are clever enough not to pay full price and enjoy a bit of recycling! It drives me mad when I see toys up for sale at nearly the same price as in the proper stores. It puts me off going in to some thrift shops. There is one really good one near us – they had a buy one get one free on the toys today – my son got a pirate telescope and a shield and sword – he was delighted and so was I – cost wise! I love your candle sticks. I love entertaining and really enjoy the laying of the table. I suffer from insomnia and spend hours at night planning tables – it helps me drop off to sleep! You have inspired me to do a little blog about entertaining and a few good entertaining books so pop by again soon! Your kids sound like mine – no matter the weather they want to be swimming in the sea with their wetsuits – it definitely is too cold here in the winter though – the summer is bad enough – extremely grey today! Speak again soon

Your garden is coming together nicely. I often listen to music via my laptop, I love that it’s portable and can go anywhere with you… even the garden
