reluctant entertainer

Since being in the cottage, the continuous work and slow preparation has meant no-one over, no hospitality.  Until this weekend when I put out the invitation to some friends for Saturday night.

…I filled the cottage with tealights and flowers, there's nothing like candlelight and flowers to hide the dings and I kept the menu very simple, chicken in wine with lemon and a coupla Jamie Oliver specials that I've relied on heavily in the past to make it look like I've made effort when really I've shoved it in the oven with not a lot of prep (just like my painting!!)  I so enjoyed making up the table, it was so nice to get it all ready and use some of my vintage linens.

I can’t wait to see your garden! I keep forgetting it’s school holidays as I have to go to work :( and don’t get to spend much time with Chloe. I have never not been around for the holidays for either of the girls so it’s a little bit sad for me and for Chloe too I think.

Your dining table looks gorgeous… so simple and fresh and elegant. Love it! I think we may have the same dining chairs, lol! Might I say you have great taste :)

I hope you have fun in the garden with your kids and enjoy the holidays… hope the rain doesn’t stop you doing what you want to do!

I too Love Sandy and her site! I think a lot of us feel the same way that you do about wanting to wait until its all perfect…. but there is no perfect. Our homes will always be a work in progress!

Your table looks gorgeous… and since I guess we aren’t using the word perfect, I won’t say it… I’ll just say gorgeous.
