There was this sofa sitting in the garage praying for some love & there was the right hand corner of the deck without a seat. So after deliberating for all of, oh 2 years, I decided to shelve the ideas of re-upholstering the seat cushions and instead took the easy option of using a throw to cover their hideous not-quite-sea blue. Then I added the white cushions that I already had and the new beachy striped ones. All that was left was to re-cover the awful 90's blue and burgundy chenille back cushions and nope this was not my best sewing job, it is, if you are looking for a good word to describe the job…imperfect. My sewing is often slapdash – I cut these out roughly by eye, did not pin or tack or anything as serious as that, I just hit the sewing machine and minutes later those 90's babies were linen…don't look too close cos they're not perfect!
Take a look here for more imperfect syles!
The deck is 90% there, I still have much more foofying up to do, more beachyness to add, pots to plant up and I'm on the lookout for a cupboard/buffet to hide bits and bobs in…on the whole though, even though it might not be perfect
it is oh so much better than it was a few months ago…and on a budget!

I, for one, love it!! That sofa/settee looks just as good as the ones bought from the fancy outdoor furniture stores! You sound like me on the sewing part – I hate taking the time to do it right, so if it is for me, I’ll throw it together in a jiffy, with little worry about “perfection”.
Thanks for participating!
Linda
Found you from the imperfect challenge (uh oh…I see this taking up HUGE amounts of my time!!). That is a beautiful makeover, and what a great blog. Thanks for the treat with my morning coffee!
WOW! Another great makeover* I love this ! xo
p.s. Oh ya better stop by if your in my neck of the woods on your america tour! xo
If only the weather here was as good as yours so we could put out a sofa – what a joke! Thank you yet again for your lovely comments. I love your sofa make over – it looks great. I bought my country living on line using the us website like you said. The magazine I would really like to get hold of sometimes is Marie Claire Idees. I dont know why they dont print it here in the UK. Sometimes I think our husbands really suffer (I’d love to show you a picture of my garage only Health and Safety rules forbid anyone entering it!!!!!). Some areas of the house are really organised and some are NOT. The top floor is about to cave in with all the sorting out that needs doing! My son starts school in September so I will have (in theory) more time then so I have put lots of projects on hold until then when I hope to have a massive clear out of all sorts of things – trouble is I am extremely sentimental and will find it hard! Anyway, love porch – well done. Liked the link to the other lady’s blog. Nice to go surfing! love Emma x
I love this! That settee is amazing…I can’t believe how it suits the spot so well, and how your linen covering (which I think looks perfectly perfect
looks. I also love the simple arrangements of potted plants. Just lovely. (And I just noticed Linda’s “Perfectly Imperfect Week” post from the link above. *Everything* in my house is Perfectly Imperfect so I think I need to participate.
I don’t think it’s imperfect at all! A really nice looking job. And you got the settee second hand? Looks great.
It is a true dream of mine to own a little white house on one of the dutch beaches.. I can’t think of anything else more lovely then walking down to the sea .. Here in Holland we have those old wooden decks to get down to the beach and I really love to feel the hot sand while walking the old wooden decks.
You have found a real nice place down there as we say, in Ozzy land
) greetings from Amsterdam!
Love your blog! Found you over at Restyled Home. This is a great makeover. -Julia
