just trucking along

IMG_4885

I've not been well over the last few weeks since the conjunctivitis, it seems to have gone in floods so some days I've been buzzing around ok but the last few I've pretty much been wiped out, a little better today.  Mr Beach Cottage informed me that I would not get better if I did not sit down, in fact yesterday he instructed me to lay down on the sofa from when the kiddos went to school until it was time to pick em up.  Well of course, I was worse than useless at this, but at 1pm I decided I would lie on the sofa and watch some good old Oprah.  I wriggled and squirmed but I was there for the whole show, phew, that was one huge eye-opener for sure.  It was all about transvestites who had transitioned, happily married men with kids who turned into happily married women with kids.  When Mr Beach Cottage came home I kept looking at him for signs of anything, I mean how would you know?  And you see that is why I don't lie down on the sofa from 9-3 watching tv.

I thought you might like to see this little vintage chair, transformed by a huge clean-up today and lots of elbow grease…won't be staying in the cottage, I'll need to find a new home…

And tomorrow I'm going on a new thrifting adventure…to an auction, at an auction house, on my own (but with my camera of course) how utterly exciting, can you imagine what I'll be like if there is something there I want and I have to bid against someone and stick up one of those little paddle signs?  Too funny.

    Sarah,

When I try to rest like that I do almost the same thing. I’ll start a new list of all the things I need to do when I get up. Not much point in resting, right?

I was laughing at you checking out your husband and if he had any symptons.

Enjoy the auction. They are a lot of fun. Love the chair.

Ah, never ever watch Oprah – her shows are just too out there. And I’m from Chicago where everyone watches Oprah. Are there signs for transvestites? Gosh, I don’t wanna know.

I do hope you feel better soon.

Love that chair/stool – it’s just adorable. Sorry you can’t keep it though. How great would that be for your future grandchildren?

Have fun at the auction! I can’t wait to read all about it and see all the great photos.

  3. Good Luck—-with lying down, keeping husbands potential transfestite tendancies at bay (snicker, lOL, you crack me up!) and with the bidding. You always get the good stuff!
    The chair is precious!

You are too funny! Oh, and be careful…auctions are very addicting..I know..

  5. Lynda says:

Well we even have Oprah here in Egypt… one day I will find out what the locals think.

Be careful of those auctions… I got a little addicted to Estate Auctions a few years back… I bought some lovely paintings – but once ended up with a 76 piece formal english dinner service (that I don’t need) because no one bid against me… it has been boxed up and shifted with us for about 6 years now.

I hope you’re feeling better soon. I’ve never been to an auction either, but that’s probably a good thing. I hope your husband shows no signs of change! ;O)

  7. LuLu says:

hope your venture is so much fun…I am in the “junking mood” for an outing like that…which means it’s probable a good thing that there is not one for me to go to or I would get into some serious trouble…:o) so today I am looking at “eye candy” to fix my junking mood!

  8. LuLu says:

Hope your venture turns out fun…can’t wait to see pictures. I am in the”junking mood” myself, wish I had an aution to go to…which probable means it’s a good thing I am not going to one or else I would get into serious trouble! I will have to settle for “eye candy” today!!

I don’t watch TV much anymore. I do watch one soap off and on, and it’s the oldest running soap opera in America (and maybe the world)… 75+ years. It was on radio before TV. If you’re wondering it’s “Guiding Light.” They’ve got a new format some of us are still getting used to, but they have a couple of Aussies on there, Sarah! One is playing an international jewel thief, and the other is the jewel thief’s brother. Love their accents! Of course the jewel thief had reformed for a while, but then something got in the way of his redemption.

Before the Aussies, we had the Winslow brothers who were two “royals” from a pretend island kingdom, and both had great British accents. The accents were fake, but the men were hot!

I love everything I’ve seen and read about Australia (big Thornbirds fan, here), and some day hope we can visit Down Under. Have been to Great Britain and love it, too.

Oh, I got a chuckle out of this one, Sarah! Can’t sit still to save my life. And when Mr. Beach Cottage came home, I can just imagine you eying him for tell-tale signs of deception! I’m afraid if I had the little paddle, I’d be raising it when I wasn’t supposed to. Kind of like musical chairs or something and you have to keep your mind firmly fixed on the task at hand.

I don’t watch much tv, and I think the reason is much the same as the one you’ve given! I end up watching something crazy!

The last auction I went to (ages ago), I remember being so embarrassed to hold up the paddle! lol

  12. Deb says:

Phew–one show like that and I’d literally FLY to the auction house! Lol.

  13. flipperdelph says:

I hope you’ll be better soon !! Your chair is adorable…too bad you are so far, our new old Victorian house would be its perfect home once it’ll be renovated !

  14. Just popped by for a cheery hello! Your house is looking fabulous….so inspiring!

    Happy day!

I’m not much of a t.v. watcher either…never even seen an episode of Friends or Seinfeld…not even sure why I have cable. :-) Can’t wait to hear about the auction.

  16. Sabine says:

Oh, I know Oprah although I´m living in Germany. She is a wellknown lady and her TV shows, too. You made me giggle while reading your post and yes, I will watch my husband too, if there are any signs…hehe…
Good health and a wonderful day on the auction! Have lots of fun!
