Take One Table

IMG_6382

G'day all, hope you all had a good weekend and thanks for letting me know what you all get up to on those days that are not meant to be about skivvying.

Well I did get a few of the things done that I wanted to do just for me and hooray I did get started on the shed/summer house makeover and boy it is coming on so well.  Of course I've painted it white but it's gonna take me a few more afternoons to get it finished…

So I decided some of the me-time would be a little Beach Cottage vignette-ing (and I love that not-a-word word).  I waited til there was no-one here and had a little play.  After having been inspired in blogland last week by numerous sources but mostly Cindy's I wanted to use what I had to create a new look for a table that sits in the corner of the breakfast room, I challenged myself to see how I could make this area feel different by just jigging stuff around.

It's a funny little corner that you walk past, you know those right?  It had lately become a dumping ground for the laptop & its charger, the hot glue gun and two lamps without bulbs.  I cleared that off, shopped the Beach Cottage for a few bits and bobs and fiddled…

I came up with a few different looks, let me know what you think and which one you like best…and take yourself over to Susan's for more gals who like to makeover…

Beautiful vignettes. I can’t choose, so I would just switch them out from time to time. They are both lovely.

  4. Stacey says:

Beautiful! I think your home needs to be in a magazine.

Well, sweet girl…If I HAVE to choose a favorite, number 1 is my choice. HOWEVER, there is NOTHING you can do to a table top that I wouldn’t like. I keep tellin’ ya…I am your biggest fan. :O)
Seriously, I like any of it. I love your white creamy walls of your cottage, too. Most of mine are white but I don’t have the white furniture. I have big, comfy leather sofas in the living room and white furniture just doesn’t seem to go with it.
Most of the furniture in there is either natural woods or black. Bet YOU could use big brown sofas and still pair the whites with it and it would look fabulous…Me? I can’t seem to do it…
I sure can dream of yours, tho…..

Both vignettes are lovely :-) I really like the layered picture mats/frames. And the little collection of items on the left side in vignette #2.

Good idea to just switch between the two vignettes whenever the mood hits :-)

I like the version with the basket! They’re both beautiful, but the faded basket with the striped liner feels more beachy to me…plus I really like the glass pedestal vase on the left to use as a place to collect seashells and other finds from strolls on the beach!

    Great Met Monday post!

I like the one with the basket, too. But both of them look nice. Switch them out ever so othen, and never get bored!:)

  9. Mel says:

I love both but I think the one with the silver teapot and frames gets my vote!

I couldn’t face Ikea in the end by the way, left the kids with Mum for a couple of hours and went to Homebase and then did some peaceful sewing at home!

They are both fabulous but if I had to chose only one it would be the basket one. Probably because you are after all ‘A Beach Cottage’
Looking forward to seeing the shed/summer house makeover when it’s complete

Thanks! Here is the link for the cover – it was quite easy – just be really careful with your measuring!

How is it possible to choose. I love the feeling of serenity that the white background in contrast to more shades of white makes me feel.

Both are beautiful and it’s not easy picking one but I have to say the one with the silver/pewter tea/coffee pot really caught my eye. I agree with so many others – your Beach Cottage House should be in a magazine!
    Have a happy day.
