One of the things I love about life in Australia is the outdoors (blogged for Outdoor Wednesday where you'll find lots of nice outdoor places) and there is oh-so-much more to it than just world class beaches, though of course those are pretty fab.
I have twenty-two of them near enough to go for my nearly-daily walk which works for me to clear my head and get things straight. Constantly reminding me of our seachange and that our new life (you can read the story here) is so worth it even when times are a bit tougher like now.
So yesterday I went to a beach I don't normally go to and while had forgotten my camera I had my phone, so thought I'd experiment with the video, hahaha, too funny, very short, like 21 seconds short and sweet but gave me something to start with..amazing technology isn't it and Moviemaker is just too easy to be addictive…I'm telling you no-one is safe, the Beach Cottage kiddos, the white painted furniture, the sea, boats, in fact anything nautical or actually anything – woman with camera, internet & movie software needing to learn and in pursuit!
Oh and I've been writing a few beach cottage decorating ideas as I get heaps of questions that I've not always got time to answer – they'll be coming this week, you'll need to sign up for my email subscription to get the full version – ideas on beach chic thrifting, coastal decorating and finding vinage furniture and making it over for a relaxed nautical decor and how oh-so-easy, not an interior designer needed, it is to achieve this look…on a budget
Don't forget to visit Beach Cottage Inspiration - the place for lots of lovely homey images for beach cottage living, so easy to just copy and paste all the wonderful ideas out there!

Thanks for sharing your photo.~ Susan
Lovely, lovely, lovely!!! (But it DOES look more like a winter ocean “stand” than a walk!!! – - – I’m just sayin’)
Lovely to see a bit more of your world – and amazingly it looks remarkably similar to some of the beaches near us here in N Ireland!
I can’t wait for the beach cottage decorating ideas!!! If you are up for some suggestions of what to include I would love to see what you have done with your boys rooms, also would love to know where your ‘junk’ shop is where you pick up so many great things like the cane table (although you may not want to share that secret and I totally understand)! and would also love to see exactly how you distress your furniture to get that really authentic aged look and not the ‘I have just sanded this to make it look like the paint has worn off’ that I feel sometimes my furniture at times ends up with!
How cool that you are able to use all the newfangled technology to share the simple joys of a walk on the beach in brilliant sunshine.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful patch of the beach.
Sigh, I do miss the sea. That was lovely, though – thanks.
While we were at the beach two weeks ago I filmed a clip and have used it to keep that beach feeling at work. When the day gets stressful I just play the sounds of the waves crashing. My clip is 43 seconds and I can set it on replay so it doesn’t stop….ahhhhh.
Between the calm of the see and the sound of the wood thrush (the sound file is on my blog and desk top), I can enjoy the sounds of nature even when I have been cooped up in a conference room for hours!
Beautiful!
Cool video.I’m trying to learn this video thingy, too.
Any day at the beach is a good day.
Yeah you are right ChrisC. Very nice cool video. We go beach last month on our companies outing.

Oh…so pretty. I love the colors and the long shadows. You’re lucky to be so close to such beauty!
Glad you took us along for that walk. There is nothing like a beach! And I keep forgetting you have winter in Australia right now. We’re entering summer in Florida.
Thanks for sharing. Very pretty…
XO,
Sheila
How lucky you are to live so close to so many beaches. You have such a lovely home. Nice pics of the beach!
Your photo is just wonderful. How fortunate you are to be so near to beauty. Have a wonderful day.
Don’t you just love living by the beach. We bought our little cottage 8 blocks from the beach about 9 months ago, and every day, I thank God for this blessing! Can’t wait to see more inspiring photos of your beach cottage.

Hi Sarah! Your blog and new inspiration site keep getting better and better! You should really take the leap and start doing this as a job – with your talent of finding and creating such beautiful items – you would be a HUGE hit! If I lived in Australia, I would be your biggest client!
I’m sure it helps that you live near such beautiful inspriation. I love to log on every morning and see what you have done and where have you have been.
Enjoy your day ~ Sarah
I loved the video…great photo also…how lucky your are to be there…
Thank you for sharing your beautiful picture and video of your beach. I live in San Diego and love our beaches here – so spoiled to live so close. I too enjoy walking along the sand. The sounds of the water are very soothing. There’s nothing quite like the cool, ocean breeze on your face.
Blessings,
Marie
Gday Sarah…that must be amazing to live by so many beautiful beaches. Your posts always make me smile.
Hugs,
LeAnn:)
Love the beach picts. I have always lived by the beach but have traded in for the mountains which have a different kind of feeling.
Wonderful walk on the beach.
I am pretty certain I’ll never get to visit Australia. My daughter was there a few years ago and absolutely loved every bit of it! I enjoy the visit, along with her, through her memories and photos.
Sarah,
There seems to be a problem with the link to why you made a change…I’d love to read the story.
As always, I come to your blog for a breath of fresh aire.
Hugs,
Melissa
Beautiful shot of the lone sailboat. The clip was nice too. Great clarity. Was that from your phone!? Awesome!
P.S. Also, is this your Watery Wednesday post? You didn’t mention it or link back so I’m just assuming it is.
What a beautiful beach. Thanks for taking advantage of your phone’s technology to shoot the video.
I c-an-n-o-t imagine being that close to any beach. Never lived anywhere near one. You enjoy it for me and you both, ya hear?
Brenda
I really enjoyed the video. I live inland in heartland.
Great post Sarah. Nothing like a walk on the beach
Alison
