Beach Cottage Old Antique Dresser & Mirror – Help Needed

IMG_7829

So, g'day girls and boys, it's been a washout here at the beach cottage…literally – Mr BC had what one might call a mini-flood in his office which is in fact is my summer house work in progress…we had a weekend of wet and windy weather, with one big plus, no kids sport.  I did put my dancing shoes on Saturday night and we had a great time with some nice friends, Mr BC and I did a bit of rocking around the clock with a late night and some errrm sore heads for those in the party who drank a wee bit too much.  That of course would not have been me.

Now for my showpiece today at this lovely tattered old cottage is this shabby old set of drawers, that I like to, in my mind, call antique, but truly I haven't got the foggiest if it is what someone else might call an antique piece of furniture.  Who cares?  Not me.

I found this at a garage sale, sitting in the corner behind some modern furniture and under a huge, and I mean huge pile of cuddly toys.  It was pretty dusty, but not too bad.  This was a true example of how you never know where you are going to come across a treasure to make ya heart miss a beat.  This sale as I approached it seemed to have a large collection of home-exercise machines and a rather errrm large man trying to sell them, the last thing I thought I was going to find was a delightful old dresser in the corner.

First off I loved the shape, almost a utility feel to it?  And more I was seriously digging the pulls, original I do not know, but nice, certainly.

I have to tell you, though I loved the colour, when we got it in here I just wasn't sure and I did have ideas of passing it onto another shabby vintage lover, but actually changed my mind, because the more I looked at it, the more I thought how much I liked the shape and the dandy little mirror on top, complete with authentic ageing.

But of course, as it's sat on the edge of our bedroom, empty, I've looked and examined, changed the accessories, squinted my eyes.  Once upon a time, not so many years ago, before we came to Australia, this would have been the perfect find, left just as it is, but here, now, surrounded outside by the eye-balling colour all around, I like it cool and calm inside and I'm not so sure pink is hitting it with my vintage beachy feel.

So what am I gonna say next?  That I'm zapping it with my much researched, highly tested, hand mixed beachy white layer of paint.  Yeah, sorta…

But the question is people, I need help before this metamorphosis and where I thought I might ask you to offer me some of your opinions.

Firstly:   All smothered in beachy white?

Secondly:   White except the top like the table from last week?

Thirdly:  All white bar the drawers & pulls & mirror.

Or any other thoughts?   Don't think you can surf on in here and not comment, I can see y'all you know? I want answers people!

    * STEP BACCCK FROM THESE PICTURES… SLOWWWWWLY NOW and NOBODY will get hurt!!!

    SERIOUSLY, IT’S almost SUREAL that I actually wrote this earlier today, but it’s just WONDERFUL the WAT it is… RIGHT NOW… AS FOUND… “in the pink”… it’s ALREADY top notch delightful ANNND has a unique flair!

    Am USUALLY all for painting “whenever/whatever”, but this? NOPE! It’s TOOO DELIGHTFUL, and TOO UNIQUE, to change.

    Sorry, but that’s simply “MY” opinion!!!

    ~~~ FABULOUS FIND!!! ~~~~~
    Linda in AZ *
  2. Linda in Arizona says:
    OOPS! Well, you can TELL it’s almost 2:00 a.m. her in the USA & I just got up, SLEEPY but UNable to sleep!!! What I MEANT to say was “STEP BACK FROM THE P*A*I*N*T C*A*N*S and B*R*U*S*H*E*S…….”~~~~~~~~~
  3. Jillian says:
    Omigosh! It is SOOOOOOOOO Rachel Ashwell! In fact, I thought your photo was from her website or book. I love it as is! No changes! :-)
  4. Lisa-Marie says:
    How about just apining it all white (except from the handles, they are cute as), and sanding the edges so that the pink and a bit of the wood colour comes through? You could do brown over the pink on the mirror and sand the edges too if you want a bit of contrast, or do it the same as the dresser, but ad some metal knick-knacks (key or shaker hearts maybe) . I love that dresser!
  5. cherrie says:
    Follow the lead of the other furniture in the room. Be remorseless whatever that means.
  6. Jojo says:
    My vote would be all white but if you distress it a bit you could allow tiny hints of pink to come through. No matter what you decide to do I know it will be beautiful.
  7. Queen b says:
    I like it just the way it is. I agree with Linda and Jillian :)
    Some things are meant to stay the way they are :)
    However, if you DO change it, it will look delightful, I just know it.
  8. Charla @ For the Sake of Time says:
    My vote would be to distress it after painting it white. I wonder if you could find some pink knobs to set off the pink color that would show through. Please post your final project. I would love to see it.
    Charla
  9. Of course I love your find Sarah…hmmm not sure from the pics of your Beach Cottage if it would be at home though-
    my thoughts are -
    well yes it is a lovely colour, but if it doesn’t fit in to your beach cottage colour scheme don’t bother trying to make it? – so Give it a bit of a white wash, take the mirror off the dresser and of course the mirror holder upright strut things – so as you have a seperate dressing table and a seperate mirror – hang the mirror behind your new free standing dressing table – it’ll be matching but not that traditional “Antique” piece.
    Hope this all made sense?
    I’m staying tuned…..looking forward to seeing what you come up with
  10. My vote is for all white, bar the drawer pulls. The black drawer pulls would pop against the white. That’s my ten cents worth!
  11. Shaz says:
    Well it’s just a thought, but since your gorgeous beach cottage is all predominately white ( which I LOVE LOVE LOVE), it’s kind of a nice surprise – a splash of colour from the shabby palette. Maybe leave it for now, live with it a while and see how you like it after a bit of time.
  12. santamaker says:
    Love the color it is. Reminds me of the pinky-peach inside of a shell. I would white wash the drawers and leave the top and sides. Can’t wait to see what you decide.
  13. Kathi says:
    Oh my goodness! What a find! I would leave it just as it is! It’s perfect!!!
  14. sarahpatillo@cox.net says:
    Please don’t paint it!!! You couldn’t ask for a better worn finish – it does look like the inside of a shell. I know it’s not white, cream or beigey like the rest of your home but the color is so soft and pretty that it will really make a quiet statement. If it weren’t so perfectly worn already, maybe . . . it’s gorgeous and I wish I lived closer in case you did decide to pass it on the another shabby lover!! :)
    Sarah
  15. Janice says:
    Pale rubbed Turquoise and don’t touch those drawer pulls.
  16. Ashley says:
    Like the other posts so far, I LOVE it the way it is! It looks great with bedding. I wish I could find something like this piece with such a beautiful patina.
  17. I love it the way it is in it’s perfect pink patina. Gorgeous piece of furniture!
    About your comment on the book fair and dealers. The book fair runs three days. On Sunday (last day), all the books are $5 a bag. I’ve never been on Sunday, but my daughters have. The dealers come in with huge canvas bags and stuff them, at $5 each, used to be $1. I don’t think that’s what the friends of the library mean, when they sell, by the bag.:-) It is a fun event though!
  18. Keep it as simple as possible. This is a fab piece of furniture, you don’t need anything fancy to make this work. All white with a little distressing is my vote. Shabby chic wins for me.
  19. Dream Mom says:
    For your place, I think I prefer it all white, except for the drawer pulls. The pink just doesn’t work well in your place.
  20. chris says:
    If u do #2 will u leave the mirror in its original color?
    I like the all beachy white, but then again, if u leave the top pink u will have an accent color that u could match w/whatever u put on the top… I’d be daring and leave the top in its original… do the unexpected..
  21. Ruthanne says:
    My vote would be to leave it pink – if it doesn’t clash too much with the rest of the room. Or if the pink is too much white wash most of it except for the top. The original distressed look is beautiful and the hardware definitely gives it a vintage feel.
  22. Quinn says:
    I’m agreeing with the splash of color idea. Chartreuse.
  23. Depends on the room…leave as it is…if it will work. I would love to see it using your top secret white paint mixture and distress so pink shows through. Definitely leave the handles as original–they are gorgeous.
    You have a keeper!
    Debbykay at Rose Cottage Gardens and Farm
  24. I think if you dry brushed it to be mostly white with a hint of pink it would fit in perfectly in your home. It’s gorgeous as is, but I’m not sure if it’s “you.” No matter what you do, it will be beautiful!
  25. gina says:
    I think this is an all or nothing situation. Either go all white (except the pulls) or keep it as is.
  26. Julie says:
    My vote would be to give it the ‘lighest whitewash’ of white. Very sheer so the pink still shows through, and then if you change your mind the pink is still recoverable! But.. don’t touch the pulls, they are too precious! Good Luck!! can’t wait to see the results whatever they are!
  27. sue austin says:
    It would look great white. It looks great as is. . . . I’d like to see a full photo of it.
  28. Michelle @ Sweet Something says:
    This is hard…as I read through all the comments it occured to me… why not stripes? White and pink stripes…That would certainly be different, yet keeping some of the orginal color, then aged the whole piece. My intial thought though, was all white with some aging over it, just so it doesn’t “fade away”…I would paint the pulls too and quickly wipe away the paint just so the paint stays in the detail…overall, what ever you do it will be great! I can’t wait to see the final result. You have excellent style, go with your gut!
    Michelle
  29. Tami says:
    I love it just the way it is…..it has such a great patina, look at those worn corners and chippy paint!! To tell you the truth I am not a pink girl but I really do love it the way it is!
    Hugs~T
  30. I dunno….I like the suprise of a shot of pink. I say, live with it for a bit as it is. The pulls are great!
  31. barbara says:
    please leave it as it is…it looks like the inside of a seashell…very beachy indeed!!
  32. PERFECT as it is. A delightful shade of pink. Loving glitter as I do maybe a small glittery object placed on the top. Just to make it sparkle~ ~Ahrisha~ ~
  33. kelly says:
    It looks awesome exactly like you found it. I vote leave it as is.
  34. Teresa says:
    I love it in pink. Wonderful like it is.
  35. Marsha says:
    I’d leave it as is and sell it for a ton of dough. But if I HAD to keep it I’d paint it all white – hardware too – and distress it just like it’s distressed now.
  36. Nicole says:
    If it doesn’t feel right, it’s just not right. I agree with Cherrie, paint white and allow hints of pink to peek through. I’m sure you’ll love whatever your decision will be.
  37. Toni says:
    I am soooooo jealous! You get THE best finds! I love it just the way it is (you know, it would fit perfectly in my bedroom decor) But, if you paint it white, leave the pulls original and sand it so just a little of the pink shows through, I think you might like it. :) If not, another option is….you can always ship it to me :)
    Toni
  38. I'm Julia says:
    Well, if you’ve just got to tone down the pink? Is there a hidden painted area you can use to test? I’m seeing a greyish, bleached, driftwoody natural wood, with bits or streaks of pink left on top of the bare, beeswaxed wood. You’d have to figure out how to accomplish it… I’m not feeling bright enough at the moment to think it thru.
    If you decide you don’t want it, send it to Texas?
  39. Helen Joy says:
    I love it as is! It is like the inside of a sea shell!
  40. I love it as is. As ours stated it just looks like the inside of the most beautiful sea shell one might find. People try every day to obtain this kind of a natural look with their painting that you found already authentic.
    However, should you decide to change it up, I would definitely vote for all white and keep the hardware original with no paint.
    I’d love it both ways, but why not live with it for a few weeks and see how you feel after that time. Your gut will probably confirm what it should be.
  41. liz says:
    Oh my, I am so loving it just the way it is. Maybe if you sanded the surface to make the pink a bit lighter or added a whitewash to it, you might like it better in the room.
  42. Sue says:
    Maybe a crochet, lacey dresser scarf over the top would tone down the pink a bit without painting.
    Have you tried the wax treatment for aging wood? Decide what areas you want to remain pink and rub a wax candle over them. Paint the whole thing in pale white wash and then you can sand the waxed area and the white paint will come off easily. (Hope that makes sense)
  43. Debra says:
    Be true to yourself and your palette, although the pink is lovely, you gotta go with the white, and I vote for #2. I was just at Anthropologie in Carmel, Ca. on Saturday and they had a couple of pieces with that washed beachy look and it immediately reminded me of your home. I love it.
  44. Linda Queen says:
    Hmm, I sort of like the shot of pink amongst your white. I say look at it as is for a while and then decide. But don’t paint the pulls if you paint the piece.
    Great find!
    Linda Q
  45. Being pink, it would work great at my house. (Too bad I would have to take a second mortgage to ship it from Australia to Florida.) But I can certainly understand why you are unsure about the color for your home. I think any of these ideas would work well but also feel like a lot of its charm is related to the current color. Maybe you just need to wait to see what your thoughts and feelings are about it after you have lived with it for a little while. Having this color in your home might grow on you. Maybe it won’t.
    I’m a big help, huh?
  46. It’s such a pretty, soft pink. Can’t it stay the way it is?! You could never replicate that color if you changed your mind. I see what you mean though. By all rights, it should be white. But seriously, can’t it stay pink?
  47. Hmmm, many good suggestions here.
    1.I think “I’m Julia” had a great idea.
    2.I also like the idea of leaving it pink but giving it a light sanding.
    3.Also whitewashing just a bit and letting the pink show through.
    You might have to just sit with it awhile and let the ideas grow on ya. You really do find the most lovely pieces!
  48. cathleen says:
    I think it’s totally vintagey and charming just as it is. What a sweet find!!! A little pink added to your lovely beach cottage would be quite a change. Maybe you can find a vintage quilt that is a pale pink and white and drape it somewhere in the same room or place it folded up on top of the dresser.
  49. Cindy S. says:
    I vote that you leave it as is and add a bit of pink into your room with a small pillow and accessories, maybe? I adore it the way that it is!! Hugs, ~cindy s~
  50. ChrisC says:
    I’m with the others.Leave it as is.If you can clean up the knobs,great.but,if not,how about clear,crystal ones?
  51. ChrisC says:
    or ship it to Florida.You could brng it.We have beaches here.And it’s summer here.I have it all thought out,don’t I?
  52. Susan says:
    Goodness, so many great ideas, but I have to go with the ladies who suggest the barest whitewash over it…tones down the muted pink to even softer pink…maybe leave the top the pink.
    Musing here…can you get your hands on a bit of white tulle? Toss that over it and that might mute it enough to see if you like it with a whitewash ‘wash’…and leave the pulls…that black is the nices shock of color…hope the tulle idea makes sense. Or any really sheer white fabric that would give you an idea.
    Or just toss a burlap throw over the top of it to hang down the sides and call it good ;D
  53. Marie Walter says:
    First of all, I cannot believe in my wildest dreams someone would be getting rid of that oh so yummy vintage piece! But who cares, it’s in good hands now. I love the antique pink shade! Since you couldn’t get it back to that color if you paint it, I would leave it as is for a while so you can see if it grows on you. If it’s too pink I would paint all white except the drawer fronts and pulls.
    Blessings,
    Marie
  54. Lorraine says:
    The strange world of blogs. This morning when I got up, your sidebar link on my blog showed this post. “May 31, 2009
    Beach Cottage Decorating Ideas” A fabulously long post which I really enjoyed reading and wrote a reply, which seems to have gone the way your post has – disappeared into the ether! So I’ll have to just comment on this one instead! Where DO you find these bargains?! I think I would be inclined to live with it for a while and see whether it ‘fits’ and then maybe decide to do your wonderful makeover metamorphosis if doesn’t.
  55. Carrie says:
    It looks fine as is, but since the pink is not working for you, then paint it and then distress with sanding. Leave the hardware in its original finish.
  56. Sarah, great piece! How about something different than your usual white. Like pretty sea/aqua blue? I think that would be gorgeous mixed with your whites.
  57. chasity says:
    I am completely in love with the pinkness of it!!!!
    {and I’m not usually a pink girl}
    It’s great…I wouldn’t change it one bit.
    Great find!
    Chasity
  58. beth says:
    It looks really cute pink, but it would also look nice painted white and distressed with some of the pink showing through. And I agree with Chris above, some crystal or glass knobs would look great. But I am partial to the sparkle of crystal hardware. :) Whatever you decide to do, it’s gonna look great! What a perfect find! Have fun.
  59. Kim says:
    Leave it be!!!! But then I’m partial to pink. Pink is beachy. Lots of shells have pink & a sunset has pink in it.
  60. Bren says:
    I love the soft pale pink. I think it gives it that really cool vintage vibe. I personally love it!
  61. Oh my, what an awesome find!!! :) I actually love it as is….even the knobs….gives it that rustic feel. As far as accents go, I see a white pitcher full of fresh flowers…maybe so shells in a lovely silvery bowl…and of course, some candles.
    Oh, BTW, just finished my new blog! Please stop by for a visit. http://www.littlebitvintage.blogspot.com/
    Blessings!
    Rachel
  62. Suzann says:
    I’m thinking all white. Perhaps spray the knobs with a very pale watery blue???
  63. Dana says:
    I think I’d do number three and see how it looks, if you don’t like it you can always paint the drawers and mirror too.
    Even if I went all white, I’d leave those pulls the way they are if you can get them unscrewed or at least taped off, or painted around.
  64. elyse says:
    how about you paint it your favorite shade of white but lightly distress the edges to reveal some lovely pink.
    maybe paint the pulls white, too.
    also, check out pretty appliques to affix at http://www.doityourselfchic.com/main.sc
    ooh la la!
    xo
  65. Irene says:
    You cannot touch that beautiful patina. Painting the knobs would be sacrelidge!!! Add some soft pink to your room in the form of cushions on your bed perhaps, just a touch of it somewhere else so that it ties in to the room as a whole. Pretty pink pearls hanging on your bed…? After all a little touch of colour is always good.
    But in the end it is YOURS and you should do what YOU think is right for your home.
    (It is beautiful as it is though ;)
  66. Scribbler says:
    OK, here’s my two cents worth:
    Try limewax or a light white glaze ragged off. The drybrushing idea might work too. Point being, don’t obliterate the finish, just make it better by toning it down slightly!
    Scribbler
    P. S. I would leave the hardware — it looks the stuff that came with the piece, even if it didn’t.
  67. sara says:
    Its lovely,I think I would leave it – maybe give it a coat of beeswax. Otherwise I think the thirdly option would be nice.
  68. My vote is to keep it as is.
    Renee
  69. Sarah @ thriftydecorchick says:
    You know, I have to agree! I love it as it is! If not, I’d go all white for sure. What a beautiful piece! Those knobs would be great with white.
  70. OMG Sarah…. my grandmother had that dresser – same drawer pulls and everything. It was staind quite dark and the mirror could be tilted. So it is old alright. Sadly, one of my uncles took all her ‘old’ furniture to the tip when she passed on.
    You’ve had some great advice. If you can’t live with the pink, what about using one of your other Beach Cottage accent colours like taupe/beige. I’m sure it will look lovely no matter what you do.
    Hugs ~ Kerryanne
  71. That dresser is a terrific find…all chippy and I even like the shade of pink. It has so much character.
  72. Alison Gibbs says:
    What about just a ‘swish’ of white and let some pink show through
    Alison
  73. Shelia says:
    I think this great piece fits you and your home wonderfully just the way it is! You know how to make everything so beautiful!
    be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)
  74. Yup, I got to agree with pickling it. Paint it white over the pink and let some of the pink shine through!
  75. Kim says:
    I’m really diggin’ the way it looks now. It’s such a soft splash of color. I vote leave it! :o )
  76. Gosh, I would leave it as is. I LOVE this shade, but I know you will end up painting it.
  77. susheela meyers says:
    if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. perfect as is. There will be plenty of other dressers to improve with a whitewash.
    This one is a pink dresser. Beautiful.
    cheers
    sush
  78. Amanda says:
    I think I might in the minority here and although I love the aged look if it was me I would definately paint it white. Just my personal opinion of course but for me the pink is a bit too girly, probably it was another colour or plain wood I would leave it alone but I think if it was painted white it would look great in your bedroom against all your other furniture.
  79. Amanda says:
    Oh and just to add I think I would leave the knobs – but the rest…..definately white!
  80. DesignTies says:
    It’s almost 1:00 in the morning and I HAVE to go to bed — but now I can’t leave without commenting ’cause you caught me here!! ;-)
    I have a totally different thought — what about painting the dresser the very light blue you used on one of your side tables?? And I like the idea in the previous comment about using clear glass or crystal knobs.
    Otherwise, I would go with option #2 — paint it white with a wood top.
    I’m sure whatever you do, the dresser will come out great!! :-)
    Kelly
  81. beth says:
    Even I would leave it just as it is! It’s perfect!!! as santamaker did.
  82. kathy says:
    Leave it alone – lock up the paint pots and brushes, get someone to tie your hands behind your back. Do not untie until the urge to paint has gone. Something new and not in your old style can be a good thing, think your cottage is lovely but it can evolve. I have a house which has evolved over the years, and things mix together well – if you love em keep em – if you can’t decide, don’t do it until you know it’s right.
  83. Sheila says:
    Oh, this is a hard one because I really like it in pink… I like the original shabby look. But I know you love white. Hmmm…. I think it’s nice to have a pop of color, and I love that pink! It’s also soft pink. I love the pink flowers on top of it, too. Decisions, Decisions. Okay, here’s my two cents. I would leave it the way it is. As to the pulls, it looks to be possibly the same age as a similar piece I have, and my pulls look a lot like those. I’ll be interesed to see what you end up doing. But if you decide you can’t live with the pink and want to paint it, I think you should sell it because that paint is pretty cool. And there’s always another neat piece just around the corner waiting for you.
    XO,
    Sheila :-)
  84. jus says:
    I reckon battleship grey with magenta polka dots and sunshine yellow mirror and legs…just jokes!!
    I love it pink, maybe just dress it white? jusx
  85. Pearl Maple says:
    Some weeks I enjoy the comments as much as your own post and pics.
    Agree with Gail & Julia, break it up and shake it up but work with your white tones, stay true to your colour scheme. The power and lure of what you have created is in the layers of white with touches of blue and taupe.
    Lots of shabby fans are pink girls but you have so little of that tone in the beach cottage.
    Don’t touch the draw pulls and yes working some wood tones into the shabby white scheme is a good balance. If the top goes white maybe big wooden candlesticks?
    Am having a similar dilemma this week in a travel themed corner, I like the individual pieces by themselves but together it gets all jumbled but afraid to paint in case it becomes too white. Or is that possible?
  86. I am a lover of white, only because i can add what ever i like and it looks fabulous (perhaps i do not live on the edge)
    Thank you for stopping by my blog.. I have added you to my favourites, i adore your writing style as well, feel like you are really talking to me!!!
  87. I’m gasping, it’s so perfect as is, can’t you think of it as the pink of the sunset so that it fits into your beach house, it’s just so cute like it is?? Sorry but I love pink especially when its old (;
    Hugs~Kelly
  88. Cindy S. says:
    Hi, I have already commented once, but I wanted you to know that I have started a blog just this weekend and I have put you in my favorites. I so admire what you have done with your cottage and with white, I think my friends will enjoy it also. You are one of my very most favorites!! You will find me at cstower.blogspot.com. Hugs, ~cindy s~
  89. I’m of the all white opinion. It’s a nice piece but pink doesn’t really fit your overall look. Good luck
  90. Brenda Kula says:
    Well, I’m going to be totally different here. I considered and reconsidered writing this. For it wasn’t at all on your list of “maybes.” But my first thought was a nice shade of light blue. Don’t know why. Just seemed to lend itself to this serene sea-like thought. Whatever you do with it, it is truly a beautiful piece. Who cares if it’s antique. No matter. I may be off my rocker here, I don’t know!
    Brenda
  91. Robin says:
    If you were using pink somewhere else in your home, it would be perfect left alone. Since you aren’t, if you plan to keep it, you should definitely slather on your favorite white. However, you might consider selling/giving it to someone for a little girl’s shabby chic room as is, cause it really is a cute piece done up in pink.
  92. Even though I’m a fan of white, a little color never hurt anyone! Like the cutest pink cheeks on a baby! I like the ideas suggested already, of adding a few pink accessories to the room and leaving it the color it it is or even a tiny whitewash to lighten it.
    But, I can almost visualize a soft brown or even a black-then-distressed beach-y quote stenciled around the mirror frame or even the house address numbers staggered on the drawer fronts. That would tie in the knobs and keep them from having so much contrast to the pink.
    I love the piece, regardless.
    Whatever you do, it will be wonderful. I’ve never seen you post anything that wasn’t! You have a lot of opinions, but your’s is the one that counts. I didn’t see anyone vote for white washing it and leaving the top as is, and I thought that sounded like a great idea. If you decided the pink top stood out too much, you could always go back and do the top white. Can’t wait to see what you decide. laurie
    I LOVE IT JUST AS IT IS…now, that’s not saying I won’t like it any dang color you paint it…I’m just sayin’…..
    I love it just as it is…
    i love pink, but for some reason the pink dresser doesn’t work for me. (even decked with the lovely flower!) but i do like the idea of going like the table: white everywhere and natural wooden top. YOU COULD DO IT! and the pulls are wonderful. did you write that this is in your bedroom, but EMPTY? how do you do that? jkj
  97. Sara says:
    I like it just the way it is actually. Or if you did paint it, maybe another very soft muted color? I think it looks better as a light color and not just white to bring a touch of color to the room.
    Thanks for stopping by today..just wanted to say that those 3 little lantern looing things are actually called Topsy Turvy planters…this is the first time we’ve tried them so if they work good, maybe you could get some for Beach Cottage next growing season..If they don’t have them there, I can sure send you some.
    I say paint it white except for those wonderful pulls and then distress it! Leave them just the way they are!
  100. Tiffany says:
    Well, that is a gorgeous dresser in any color, I do believe. I think the pink is neat and so unique but if you really want a change, I would go with an all white distressed look definitely!
  101. Karin Grow says:
    LEAVE IT BE!!!!! IT’s PERFECT! I think you just more comfortable with everything being in shades of white, that this sticks out like an elephant in the room, but I think it adds an extra something special to you whole design palate.
  102. Heather says:
    Oh no don’t paint it!! It is PERFECT!!
  103. Oh what a WONDERFUL find! I’m so happy it is now yours!!
    I know that whatever you decide it will be perfect for your beach cottage – white or ocean blue – whatever you do it will be dreamy!
    LOVE IT AS IS………………….MY GUT REACTION!!!
  105. I actually rather like it as-is! Whatever you do, do NOT touch those pulls. And if you do, mail them to me LOL! If you do paint, I think a shabbied up turquoise would be nice. Whatever you decide, I know it will be fabulous.
