You know that burgled cottage I told you about, somewhere on the Beaches of Sydney? Well it still ain't been cleared up.
Instead I find myself festering in various places in the cottage that I shouldn't be.
Like in this hammock. With books with beautiful pictures but no instructions for how to get started on a cottage that looks like it's been ransacked.
Of course I've always been good at re-directing myself away from things I should be doing… you know that saying – are you doing The Right Thing Next or The Next Thing Right? I'll always wanna be doing the latter one…
So do ya like my hammock? I found this moons ago on a hunt but didn't really like the colour, I was more after a string one but I'd had hammock on the Beach Cottage Most Wanted List for a long time and so it came home with me, for a few dollars a no-brainer really.
It had been sitting in the laundry room for ages and last weekend we decided to put it up. And really we've been in it ever since. Have you ever wanted one? I have to say I have and if you feel the same, I'm telling you go out and find yourself one.
I'm drawn to it, under the huge old Moreton Bay Fig tree.
Boy I love that tree, coastal breezes, thrifted jugs of cottage flowers and hammocks…
BTW I'm having a giveaway on Friday, a Beach Cottage special – just because I'm celebrating some good news this week and thought it was about time for one, is it not?
oh and fancy a little holiday break in breathtaking Irish coastal style? go take a look at JanMary's and Susan has some wonderful Outdoor Posts at her blog today, go take a peek
See you soon…

Your home looks so dreamy . . . you have done such an amazing job with all your creative finds and transformations. If I ever found great things for free like you do, I would find myself jumping up and down on the side of the road!!! I would love to do one of those house swaps for a month or so ~ like in the movie, The Holiday. Have a wonderful day!
Sarah
Beautiful home! This was my first day to find your blog. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hey Sarah, I think I hear someone calling you…you should really get up from there and go see what they want.
Ahhh, it worked…all mine! Now, where’s that book?
Susan
Sarah–You would literally have to flip the hammock over to get me out of it!!! Just got back from the beach–and thought about you several times while relaxing in the sand and surf!! What a marvelous lifestyle!!
Hugs to you,
Kristin
What a beautiful, relaxing place to be. I am so jealous.
I would love to spend some time in that hammock. Looks so relaxing!
Christi

Hi! what a peaceful place!
I love all so much! so so so cute!
xoxo
Well, I hadn’t really THOUGHT about a hammock…until NOW…and now, I want one…REAL BAD!!
Oh Yes, I’ve wanted a hammock. I’m like you – I have one in the storage, but haven’t settled on a place to hang it. Yours looks so inviting and pretty – I may just have to make the time to find a place for it. Thanks for all of the inspiration you provide. laurie
Ohhh my goodness! That is one of the most yummy hammocks i have EVER seen!
Looking forward to more as always from you.
TTFN~~Claudia
Hello Sarah! Love your hammock! I’ve always wanted one as well, but unfortunately, we have nowhere to put it at the moment.
So, I’ll just dream!
Rachel
The hammock looks great and with the white covers over it you can just see a touch of blue.
Alison
I could climb into it right now. Looks very inviting. No point having a hammock in the garden in the UK this ‘summer’ – too rainy and cold.
I love hammocks “big sigh” If we were really good kids Mum would occasionally let us have our afternoon sleeps outside in a hammock. So much fun trying to stay in! The house will keep. Just move or fold one thing everytime you get up is the way to go if you need a break.
That looks so cosy! Love the cup too

Hi Sarah. Well first I want the backyard to put the hammock in .. and then yes.. the hammock .. as well as everything else in the fabulous images… Enjoy your relaxation while you can! x Julie
Beautiful though with two infants the day I will see that is a long way off…
Sarah, your hammock is incredible and I can’t believe that you are ever able to get out of it! Dreamy….
Hi Sarah, such a pad you have there, and the chance to be resting in a hammock. I have a hammock in the cupboard for the last three years, never dry enough to set it up…..enjoy your r and r. Love your blog. Hugs, Margie.
Sarah, your hammock is lovely and so cozily fixed up!
A couple of years I purchased a very nice hammock at a big price for my husband’s birthday. It was a great investment. He, and everyone else, love to “hang out” in it.
Becky K.
I adore hammocks. Don’t have one though. Yours is just lovely.
That ransacked cottage? It’ll be there tomorrow too, I guarantee.
Enjoy your Wednesday (or it Thursday for you?)
Giveaway? I’m so there!!!
We used to have a handed-down hammock, one that a friend was tossing out. We used it all summer last year, but it eventually gave up and wore out. It wasn’t as big as I would have liked, but I did love laying in it, reading for hours on end. Hmmm… summer clearance is upon us, maybe I could find another one.
I have always wanted a hammock, but it is one of those things that need two trees close together, right? I don’t seem to ever have that. I’m glad you are enjoying yours, I’m sure it is divine! Great outdoor post! Hugs, ~cindy s~
I’m thinking festering must mean something different to Aussies than it does to Texans?
A lovely place for a nap & a daydream, Miss Sarah.
Oh dear, Susan… I am at my desk trying to stay awake and that Hammock is calling my name!
You’ve made that hammock appear to be the best seat in the house. I wish I could join you. It’s a perfect spot to ruminate.
I just inherited mom’s hammock since she moved and can’t use it. I think I’ll dress her up like you did and post! Hey, we could have a ‘Hammock Party’ Sarah! Sheer joy. Lovely post.
xo Roberta
how heaven in your hammock? are you still in it? i would be… i’m putting one of those brazilian ones back on the “must buy” list. just need to find a spot to hang it!
Oh what beautiful pictures! There is something about the simplicity of white that makes it beautiful : )
Hey ! I’m doing outdoor wednesday too !!
Love your hammock !
Wow…. heaven must be like this!!! What a serene place to lounge and relax… Thanks for sharing!

Oh great, relaxing and summery. Beautiful post!
Thanks for sharing your lovely cottage with us. I understand why you love it so. What I have seen in your country is all very alluring.
Looks like a delightful, lazy summer day!

I’m glad you finally hung the hammock and are enjoying it. Your pics are magazine worthy as usual Sarah!
What a nice place to sway in the breeze and relax, cold one in hand…. Lovely pictures, Sarah.
We took a road trip down to Charleston, South Carolina, four years ago. On the way, we stopped at Pawley’s Island and bought one of the famous Pawley’s Island hammocks. We haven’t had it out, this year. You can watch the hammocks being made, then purchase them. These are the beautiful “string” hammocks. I’ve always wanted to have it on the deck, at the lake, but J tells me there is no way, we can manage it! I think the deck is too narrow. I should get it out and do a little post about it.
simply gorgeous!!!!
Everything in these photos is divine! The hammock, the linens, the china, the flowers and the idea of reading while the sea breezes wisp through my hair. I wonder how long I would stay awake!
Happy Outdoor Wednesday!

Oh yes, hammocks, one of life’s treasures. I also have one that fits in my backpack and is extremely strong. You just never know when you might want to kick back and stay awhile. The trick is finding just the right trees.
Lovely setting you have there!
Thanks so much for the link to my irish cottage – I was wondering why my visitor numbers had gone through the roof!
(Especially as I want it to be so much shabbier! – but I am now a woman on a mission to find the items I want/need!)
One of the best nights sleeps I ever had was in a hammock by the sea – although I must say my hammock does not look as inviting as yours
I LOVE your hammock. I have been wanting to get a big white Nicaraguan hammock for a long time. First, we have to wait for our trees to get big enough to support one.
Enjoy!
We have 3 hammocks at our house!! 2 outside & 1 inside
so whatever the weather we can enjoy!! Nothing better than hanging in a hammock
Ohhhh! Good news! I can’t wait to hear what’s up! And I adore the hammock. I’ve been wanting one, but can’t figure out where I’d put one. Sure does look cozy there. A good place to snuggle up with a blanket (when it’s cold) and read the afternoon away!
Brenda
Wishing I could just spend one day in that hammock all curled up! Lovely!
I haven’t had my hammock up yet this year either. It’s been SO rainy, and I got it in Mexico, it’s one that looks like lace, and I’m afraid rain might not be the best. Your’s looks inviting though! Have a blessed week!
You’re making me drool… have always wanted and will one day get myself a hammock! So relaxing and peaceful for reading or snoozing
xo
We have a hammock here in our back yard strung between 2 trees. There is nothing quite as relaxing as swinging in the shade of the tree, gazing up into the tree canopy.
I bet you will enjoy yours as the weather warms up.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
Hello sweet Sarah – what a lovely hammock. I’ve never been on one or known anyone to own one. BUT, I’ve always thought it would be so cool to have one! Of course you have a way of setting up the most comfy little areas I’ve ever seen. Your spot there looks so amazingly restful. Love the table with the pretty flowers and books on top. And that blanket looks so soft and snuggly. Oh my, can I come over?
Blessings,
Marie
Oh YeS I have been wanting a hammock for a very long time…I’ve even planted palm trees for it to hang between, but have to wait till they grow a bit and are strong enough. I just told the Carpenter that we need to look for one on clearance when we return from our coastal holiday. He said, ‘okay, we will!’. I just LoVe yours!!! Those colors are perfect for Sea Cottage…I wish I could find one just like it. I’m so glad you hung it up and are enjoying it. I don’t think I will be able to keep my kids out of it, when we do get one.
I wish I could wrap myself in that chenille blanket and hop on the hammock right now! I just love it. I’ve always wanted a hammock but we’ve got no space for it. I’m thinking of suspending one from the joists in the attic when we redo, lol!
