Beach Cottage Heirloom

IMG_8287

Happy Saturday guys!  Phew made it through another week, hoorah.

Just a quick little post this morning.

I have oh just a few sporting commitments today, those Beach Cottage Kiddos, me and Mr BC all out and about sporting…and collapsing at the end of the day.

I'm revisiting my lovely old dresser for Emma's Heirloom Event – she emailed me and it got me to thinking about heirlooms – though this has only been with me a while, I've gotten really attached to it, other people buy pets when their babies get a bit older, I get old furniture.  You can read about the complete quandary I was in over whether to leave it as it was, a most wonderfully faded patina of pink or slap on my beachy white here and read here how she kept her colour and made the Breakfast Room her new home…

Well I'm supposing there could be a lot worse things to be addicted to…

I won't then mention my late-night penchant for browsing Book Depository, hitting buy and when a few days later at the mailbox in my pj's finding a delightful little surprise, mmm mmm

Hello Sarah – thank you for joining the party! You know how much I love this dresser. I’m so thankful you have it in your home and have taken such great care of it! And I’m so proud of you that you backed away from the paint and the urge to make it white. She looks so fabulous just the chippy pink that she is. I really love the grouping you’ve done – the shells, flowers, candle and books look so charming! The photos on the mirror look so cool. Love it!

    Blessings,
    Marie

  7. Hey, my dear Sarah! I’m so behind this week & can never stay caught up with everyone. I adore your pale pink dresser & glad you left her alone. And WOW, at the neato shutters you made and hung with LN…I love them!

  8. Sarah, you’re right… it’s become your heirloom & someday the BC children & the spouses will squabble over rights. I still giggle thinking about all the input you received.

That is so lovely because it’s not really pink ( I’m afraid that pink is one of my least favourite colours) it’s the palest, palest hardly pink…Lovely XXXX

Looks lovely in the breakfast room Sarah. I have a dresser in my office for storage, one in the dining room that I use as a buffet and to store linens, and one in the living room for the tv/storage ! I don’t know what I ever did without them in the little cottage.

I’m so glad you left it pink, I think it looks so lovely sitting in the corner like that. Dressers are versatile pieces, I have a new (to me) one that I must find a place for. I love to play house and I see that you do too. Hugs, ~cindy s~

Far worse addictions. You have to find spice in life. Some people gamble for jollies. Some, well, you know. Get out and ABOUT. For some it’s taking chances. Maybe when I was young. Now it’s all about home and things I pick up along the way that carries meaning for me. For whatever reason. Cherish those old things, because you may well be the most they’ve ever been loved, Sarah.
