Deck Sofa Before / After at the Beach Cottage

IMG_1022

Hello!  How the devil are you?

Well it has been unusually hot here and we have had a fabulous weekend including a couple of successful garage sales yesterday where I found two naturally weathered deck chairs (that need some love) and today we spent the morning at the beach and I came home with that tinge of warmth to the skin that just makes you relax enough to turn the rest of Sunday into one where you end up heading off to bed for a nice long nap…

OK so on now to sofas re-invented for a new life…this is the deck sofa, now swaddled in a fabulous coat of white.  This is the sofa I have blathered on about on this blog, the one that is a 90's throwback, was picked up from a thrift shop but has become one of those things that kinda just fits in with us here at the Beach Cottage…you know?

Here's how it looked before – am I embarrassed, no (and go find more transformations at Susan's)

But to be honest, I suppose it's not really the actual sofa that I've come to love, it's more that here in our new life in Australia, I love to be able to sit outdoors for most of the year, to revel in the climate, the fresh air, to gulp in the heady smell of Spring as we did last night with lovely friends and a gin and tonic or lay there at night gazing at the stars.  Call these romantic notions if you will…but I need those in my life.

For me, it's like nothing else to have a deck, outside, to fester about on and I don't claim that it looks perfect or more that it is gonna score big with an interior designer.  For me this sofa represents life, what's going on now, what I can afford and how I can make the best of it – I hope that's happening for you too…:-)

So, it's goodnight from the Beach Cottage, it's Sunday, 8.30 and I'm off to linger in my homeland with Deterctive Chief Inspector Barnaby and the goings on of a village much like my own was, without the murders of Midsomer….

Amazing transformation! Could you elaborate a little bit more on the actual painting? Thank you.

  2. It’s so amazing what a little white paint can do, isn’t it?!!? I just purchased some white paint and plan on using it on my very shabby looking tables in the living room. My husband thought I was crazy but I want to have a go at something white. I’m not sure if the two dogs are going to cooperate but we’ll see. : ) Thanks for the wonderful pictures!!
