G'day, it's been stiflingly hot the past few days. We've taken to the ocean a couple of times to escape the heat – even with water full of seaweed, euuuh, I had to take a deep breath to go in with that swooshing around.
It was so hot on Saturday night that I whined until Mr BC went downstairs to get the air conditioner. I don't like air conditioning, in shops, offices, houses or cars. Always had the feeling that air was already conditioned for us by nature and that it shouldn't be fiddled with. But another hot night was beckoning and so on it went.
Today I thought I'd show you how non-productive my weekend was (not of course that I spent it lazing with me feet up) and let you know that my garage sale fix didn't happen, though I went to enough to try but came home with one lonely but very nice old vintage bowl for a dollar and that was it! Whatever happened to my lucky run and finding old trunks?
I thought too I'd show you how I have done completely nothing to the deck chairs and the packing boxes – here's a little area to the side of the deck that seems to be under constant change around here and now is a new home to these undone things…
The other morning we sat in these yet-to-be-re-covered deck chairs with a coffee and today I added a few flowers, of course a shell and sat for a while making a few Christmas things.
I'm not sure if I won't whitewash it? The letters will still show through and I thought perhaps I could hide things underneath that I don't want anyone to know about
Do you have things in your home that are unfinished, undone, non-productive things? I seem to have an almost constant round of them in my head and my garage.
My life really.
Perhaps though some things are best left undone in life?

yep, you already know how much I lurve those aluminium windows

We all have times like that. Great crate, you can whitewash it or leave it. I like the white flowers and shells on it. Next weekend you will have better luck finding great things, I find that garage sale finds go in cycles.
Love those deck chairs! I would love a deck chair for our recently renovated patio -somewhere I could lounge around with a cuppa and the newspaper. Great photos as always
Looks like a lovely cool corner to sit and relax on a sticky afternoon.
As for the crate, would you white wash the wood parts allowing the text to shine through but keep those rusty bits that you enjoy so much?
It is nice to have little bits of Christmas sneaking in over the next few weeks, in this heat who needs to rush.
looks like a nice place to relax. lovely pictures as always. ruby
I think having unfinished projects is part of being a crafty person. If you didn’t keep bringing new things home to fix up the others might get done. I’m the same with my sewing. I keep adding to the list in my head and never get to the end. I probably never will. Cherrie
I think it looks really nice, and sometimes it is better to leave things unfinished, in their original state.
Hey, sarah, you could totally be a stylist, I think you’ve got loads of talent. Always love to see your pics and your thrifty finds.
Could you just bleach those deck chair slings? I know you were thinking of recovering them, but they don’t look too bad, just a bit mildewed.
I agree about bleaching the deck chair covers….and I like the crate as it is. BUT, I am sure I would also like it whitewashed.
I too have projects that went untouched over the weekend. I got an old dresser mirror from someone’s rubbish heap and need to do something with it. My plan was to take out the glass and paint the backing with chalkboard paint, but it didn’t happen yet! Good to know I am not alone.
I have soooo many unfinished things, the worst being my resume(laid off!!!) I just can’t seem to finish it. It’s funny, but even though being laid off is a business thing it still feels so personal. I love your blog it always makes me smile!!!
Are you kidding? I ALWAYS have so many undone projects. More like mid-way-through projects. It’s an early new years’ resolution, to finish one thing before starting another!
I’ve dropped in at your place before and think you have such great style.
I’d like to invite you to participate in my mood board challenge. It’s a GiveAway! Hope you’ll check it out, -susan
Love it! The chair are perfect on your deck and LOVE the box. You’re right…all little whitewashing won’t hurt.
Smiles,
Rachel
Love the look of the deck chairs as they are, so maybe a soak in napisan for the fabric covers and a wash over with bleach on the timber frames. Loving that old crate as it is.
Maybe you might get some of the fabulous rain we had here in Victoria over the weekend and cool off a little.
Have a great week
Alison
