Brown Paper Parcels Arrive at the Beach Cottage Post Box

IMG_4160

G'day, hope you are all well.  It's hot here.   Hot and good.

It's not too much of an exaggeration to say that I am becoming more and more attached to my camera and enjoy more and more taking photos.

There is something so grounding to me about it and more than taking those snaps of the kids which surely I like to take, I'm finding that camera-love and blogging has really made me sit up and take a good old look around at the simple things in life.  You already know that.

So next week to celebrate December and crafty gals with mucho talent I'm having a little giveaway from a sweet as pie gal with beautiful photos many could not resist…

Susannah sent me these little brown paper parcels tied up in string and inside some perfect little gifts just right for my cottage…don't you just love opening parcels like this?

I do, amidst all the hideous consumerism smack bang all around us at this time of year, it's nice to open a gift that you know has been made with love from start to wrapping-it-in-brown-paper-finish.  Now you don't get that in Harvey Nic's…

See you soon, I am very busy the next week coming. I guess we all are.

I'm off to a big kids' sporting event for a few days..we'll need you sending us luck..

Adorable cards – are we going to have a chance to win some? That would be fabulous!! Love how you have them strung up with pegs, perfect!! Love ‘homemade’ anything.

I was at IKEA yesterday on my way home from Washington, D.C. Crowded with shoppers but still space to sit on one of those ‘beachy looking’ sofas and just take in the scene. I like to shop for simple things there, kitchen storage jars (nice ones now with vintage looking metal lids), large red wine glasses – really inexpensive, candles and holders……and I couldn’t resist a bright red lantern to stand on the kitchen island for the holidays.

Will post later on my finds.
Y’all have a fun in the sun this weekend with the kiddos.
Me? Clambering through the attic to pull out Christmas stuff, raking ten trillion oak leaves that fell while we were gone…..and decorating of course!!

    Hugs – Mary

Ahhhh. The bliss of simple things that give so much pleasure. Stuff that has heart. Such a beautiful gift….

And I so agree about taking snapshots of our lives to share on our blogs. It really does help us settle down and enjoy the often overlooked beauty around us, either created by us in the form of a vignette, or a flower created by nature.

  6. I love visiting your blog. You always have just the right words and photos.

    Happy Day!

  8. Lovely photographs you’ve shared this post.
I’ve always wondered though what kind of camera you’ve been using for your blog post photographs? You do such a great job! I agree that the bloggig in my life, has truly made me stop, look and listen to the little details in life. I hope you’re having a great time at the kids sporting events.

When you have time check out my blog, as I have 3 jewelry gifts I am currently giving away. Thanks!

    Lovely photos, great talent!!!

My other half is also a photographer, mostly portrait and wedding (because thats where the money is!) but he enjoys doing beachy and macro shots of shells and pebbles etc, and I have taken full advantage of this and filled just about every wall in our house with them!!!!

There is nothing so calming, and it sounds like its going to be a hectic week for you Sarah so a bit of calming is probably just what you will be needing at the end of it all ;o)

Ps Good luck with all the sporting events!!

I do love packages wrapped in brown paper and tied with a bow. I often use grocery sacks for this very purpose. Beautiful gift. Lucky you! ~ Sarah
