G'day sweeties. How you all cookin'?
I've had a busy week, you know those times when you don't really know how it'll all get done, but somehow it really just does?
Well, I've had one of those weeks, but sometimes I think it rather good to rush through life, sometimes I think perhaps I savour being at home just a bit too much, too much lounging on old sofas and endless cups of tea can be detrimental to one's health
Sooo, anyway, I thought you might be interested to see what was going on behind the scenes at our cottage today. I've had a few magazine shoots here – each one has been quite different (I'll show you the others soon). This one was probably the most interesting. In terms of characters and talent.
If I'm being honest, I was a trifle edgy about it. When the Style Director emailed me asking if they could come on by and shoot I said yes and moved on, got lost in kids and laundry and you know…
Last night, after rolling in from another long day of kids' sport, I thought my goodness, what on earth am I doing?
Them. All trendy and stylish and fabulous. Here. In this old place.
But it was fine and actually quite fun, whatever they thought of it…
It was an insight to not have such tight control of the shots, I went with it anyway, if it makes it to print, I'll let you guys decide what you think…that'll be interesting too.
there was some moving around of things…
seeing how much they'll need to Photoshop me (let's hope she's good!)
hmm, what do we all think of that?
how I'd very much love to play with one of these
busy, busy
after all that, me and those kiddos went down the beach
I zoned out for nearly an hour while the kids surfed
watching these
it's over and out from Down Under, we have a function tonight, after that I'm coming home, climbing into bed and looking very much to a long coffee in the morning with lg
See ya

Congrats on the magazine shoot. Must be interesting to see how they set up the shots and do the restyling. Must be even better to have the house to yourself again.
So goodnight or good morning (depending on when you read this).

Nice!! Good that you took a time out afterwards! Those seagulls and sea are great! So relaxing!!
Sarah how exciting for you. Such fun to watch them work with you and your home. It would have been great for you watching and seeing how they ‘look’ at things to take their pics. compared to how you do it.

Congrats! That must have been fun, but I would have been soooo nervous! I know no one is coming to my house to photograph, so I’m just gonna enjoy seeing yours. But I always love seeing yours!
Have a super, sweet day!
Hugs,
Gina
I think I may have gone nuts if roles were reversed and it was ME who had the great cottage and someone in to shoot it for a mag!
Fortunately for my mental health, my place is just my own cozy crashpad. I love it, even if I love the look of yours more!
I think that is super exciting!! And you are totally trendy and stylish and fabulous.
As for your comment on my blog, I am SO not buying your “wish that could happen to me,” lol! You are the Queen of the Thrift, after all.
Wow, that is all so very exciting!!! I’ve been wondering when we would see you in a magazine. Don’t fret, You will look fabulous! Please do tell us, if it goes to print…I will like to buy a copy of the mag.
The beach is the perfect place to find your calm again. I wish I could just walk down to mine…but no, it is a 2.5 hr. drive. We will be going the day after Christmas, can’t wait! I’m longing for those wide open empty foggy shores to sink my feet into.
Congratulations Sarah! I’ve often wondered what it would be like for that to happen here. Hmmm…I would definitely need to know if they clean too?;-)
Waiting forward for the result. Don’t forget to upload the photos!
Love your sweet house. I live in a very cold, Idaho and could only wish for some nice warm weather.
Oh I can’t wait to see it all restyled for the mags!
OOH, wonder which magazine. Watching the surf, hearing it and looking forward to morning coffee-good times.
Cool! Can’t wait to see if it all works out for you. Would be fantastic to see you all in my fav mags
OH sarah – what an exciting day for you! I just took a look at houzz what a great site!

The pictures of the beach are making me drool! We just experienced our first measurable snowfall of the year
It is pretty, but… oh to be on a beach!!
Hey Sarah, thanks for the insight
I noticed you on the cover of Your Guide to Renovating and Decorating. Do share!
What a lovely view.
I always envy people with big professional cameras. Then I look at all the dials and buttons and I’m perfectly happy to just use a normal point and shoot camera than deal with all the complicated math of figuring out the fancy one. haha
It was really interesting to read about your move – great courage required, I should think! I am glad that it has turned out so well – and I look through the window of my computer and see that sun and sand, and can understand your escape from the cold northern light and the mud and the rain, and grey December skies!

Congrats! I can’t even imagine all that going on in my house. And love the beach shots. What a perfect place to end a crazy day.

I love IKEA. Since it is 2 hours away in Ft. Lauderdale, I don’t go as often as I would like. I always go and buy the weirdest stuff, tho.
