Beach Cottages, Driftwood, Glitter & Lovehearts

Morning!  Well it's morning here anyway.  I hear from the Old Country it is very cold, there is snow, freezing temps and trains have been stuck in the tunnel to France.

Well you'll be pleased to know it is not like that here.  It is another lovely day in Aus, though there is a strong coastal breeze here today, hence washing machine is going ninety to the dozen.

We have had an enjoyable weekend, Santa came to the beach on Sunday morning, rowed in by a crew of reindeer girls in bikinis and adorned with tinsel and yep I took some photos and video, hoping to get that uploaded soon….cos if you, like me before, have never seen anything like that, I can only imagine that you would be astounded by this Christmas tradition Down Under.

Saturday I spent most of the day cooking and pottering around at the cottage, we had lovely friends over for Christmas Dinner…turkey, roast potatoes, mash, bread sauce, beans (sadly no Brussel Sprouts could be found, or for that matter parsnips either), followed by a wonderful Ice Cream Lasagne Cake…let me just say that calorific intake for this evening was not low…

Anyway during that pottering, table laying with Little Mr BC and general fussing I came across a leftover pile of the driftwood, brought back from the beach by those boys and a forgotten box of baubles from that infamous bauble buying trip  and thought they really would be quite a nice combo – driftwood and glitter seems to be a bit of a theme around here lately

The Glass works to show off the au natrel of the wood to the full...but really this project this was little more than plonking the branches in and tieing the glittery lovehearts on…you already know that's my kinda decorating ;-)

See you next time, I hope you are not running around too headless chickeny…I am trying to stay focused on the simple things…

tonight we are going on the annual Beach Cottage Light Viewing Tour…nothing nicer than viewing streets choc full of Christmas lights on a balmy summers night….

  10. Love the images in this post: both the ones I CAN see (the photos) and the ones I can’t (reindeer girls!!!???? ….. can’t wait to see photos!). How can you have Christmas without parsnips? Have finally woken to snow this morning, so the world outside has gone quiet……… Funny that we should always hanker slightly after what we haven’t got……. I could quite fancy a balmy evening looking at Christmas lights….. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

  11. There’s nothing like the words glitter in your heading to send my “heart” a flutter. I luv me some glitter on anything! Your driftwood is so very pretty with the glitter hearts! I can’t wait to see your Santa on the “balmy” beach pics, while we have 8 inches of snow on the ground here!

    (insert blue word)…HAHAHAHA! ;-)

Well look at your holly jolly video! Now I am feeling festive indeed. I also have a million and one things left to do and my day job is not sharing in my falalala. They are being one big holiday buzz kill. :-( But I did manage to shovel out the car. Oh wait a minute…Mr. Shorehouse did that.

The Beach Cottage is looking fabulous! I forgot — you were on holiday last Christmas (I think?) so this is your first one there! YAY! Enjoy it…it sounds and looks like you already are!
