(sorry!) I don't know what it is that I don't like, but when I saw that first photo, my gut reaction, was "ick" - but it seems as though I am in the minority - everyone else likes it. ;-) (I hope we can still be friends though!) hmmm – I think that design (not to mention colour) is a very personal thing, so I hope you wont mind if I say that I don’t actually like it. Really glad you did the blue gray instead of the white that it was. It really makes it pop! I also agree with you on the tulip canvas. I too have looked at that canvas many times at Ikea, but never quite know what I would do with it. To me it looked too contrived in the straight on picture of your sofa. Glad you rethought it! In fact, I painted several pieces in my studio in a similar NZ equivilant shade. I drop by every so often to see how you're doing in your new adopted country. Always a pleasure to read your blog. We have similar taste in decor but instead of using doors (although I do have an old battered tongue and groove one on display), I tend to use old shabby window frames on the wall and hang hand crafted art within them.
