White Beach Vintage Princess & What I’m Working On

G'day beach chicks, phew glad you're with me on the Kiddos Rooms, I really enjoyed hearing your input on those…oh it's a lovely lovely morning here Down Under, I walked casually by the beach this morning with a coffee and there is the faintest hint of Autumn in the air, the sun just a little less strong…locals starting to wear jeans again…

Now back to the drawing board….remember I told you I am on a painting fest?

Well here's what I'm spending my spare time doing at the moment…

in the process of turning this old hag

into a beautiful White Beach Vintage Princess…

the side panels caught my eye, I thought they would rock in white…

these black handles will change out the awful ring pulls that were already on there…a bit of a pop, bit of vintage style?  you like?

014p

and I'm also trying my hand at re-inventing this old battleaxe…

into a Pebble Beach Vintage Delight….

I tried a new paint 'technique' on this one, brushed on the paint randomly (you can find tutorials for other DIY projects here and a step-by-step to painting here

I thought the legs and srcoll would sing with a bit of white and pebble, so the first coat was white…

this shot is after the second coat of 'brushing' but I've yet to seriously attack it with sandpaper to get more white sneaking on through…

What do you think of this?

I have to say I was doing that dance I do, cos I thought this was gonna be on the Council Clean Up pile when I started with the 'technique' I surely did not think this would be quickly turning into a favourite thing 'round here!

Anyway, I'm outta here people, got Kiddos stuff to sort out, life stuff to sort out…teenagers to sort out…you know…can't be sitting around with my head filled with Beachy Whites and Pebbly Greys…

Let me know what you think of my undertakings…oh and if you've time to sit down with a coffee go take a look at my other blog for lots of white inspiration  here

Stop by tomorrow for a tablescape…

So long

I thought I’d commented yesterday, but obviously only did in my imagination! Love the room, oh I wish I could make the rooms look as clear and as uncluttered as that, but sadly won’t happen for a good few years yet I shouldn’t think (if ever, knowing my boys).

Loving what you are doing with the current pieces of furniture. I saw a lovely corner unit today with bars running down (looks better than I can describe) that I would love to have, and I’m sure it would fit in right at home with you, but I just can’t find a corner to put it!

Very interesting painting technique…I like it very much. I’ve inherited a lovely hutch from my mother that I plan to paint white soon. Since you do such lovely vignettes in your home, I invite you to come along and join me at BellaCasa today to add your own vignette. Hope to see you there.

Lovely, beachy, pebbly, gray and white and delightful!
Don’t ya get all giggly when it turns out so great?
I’m going for my walk now, putting on my boots, scarf, hat, mittens, heavy coat….a farm walk…past the bog…no coffee…no BEACH!

Both pieces look great. I love the white and pebble piece most. You are so talented!

  6. What an amazing thing white (or black) paint can do to salvage furniture designed by seriously deranged furniture makers. The old hag grew wings and can now soar. Thanks for sharing.
