Table Style GIVEAWAY + Vintage Bottles & DIY Tablescaping

2322p

G'day!

How are you all doing?  Wow what a weekend (it was a long one for us in Australia), I spent a lot of it it digging in the garden and boy every single part of my body ached at one point…good ache though, you know?

So anyway here's my tablescaping from the weekend…a plethora of vintage bottles, white and flowers from the garden

It all started with a new coffee table eye candy book I had been waiting to to come through the post recently and when the other morning they both landed on the doorstep from the delivery guy I couldn't wait to savour them.

Oh and for my book buying habit, I use The Book Depository – an online book shop that has great prices and delivers FREE WORLDWIDE (and if you are in Australia this place is like pure heaven if you are a bit of a bookworm…most of the books work out to be at least half the price of the Aussie book stores)

I do have rather a few that is true but I still find myself adding to the growing piles of them around the cottage, I just love to sit with a cup of tea and dip in to them every now and then.

And with Table Style this is exactly what I did, I waited until I knew I had a spare hour, took myself up under the old fig tree in the shade at the back of the garden and sat and read.

So this weekend, totally inspired by the front cover picture, with some friends coming over for a drink and having run out of time to do much else I decided on an impromptu Do It Yourself  Table Style table and gathered some old bottles, jam jars and the like and went into the garden in search of pretty things…

As I was popping the flowers in the bottles some of the petals fell to the table and I thought how pretty that looked…

Of course, the best thing about this is it cost me absolutely zilch (in fact the whole area is very much Thrifty Vintage Beach Chic…flea market furniture, garage sale bottles, op shop vase) and with a budget of zero it was actually quite funny that it sure got some sighs from the guests when we went out onto the deck

I love how this setting is kinda casual but still special…you know..but most of all I love how simply it is all about making the most of what I already had…

And now for the best part, the GIVEAWAY, if you fancy getting your hands on a copy of Table Style, just leave me a comment to let me know what you think of my table full of flowers and vintage things…and I'd love too if you can pass onto me your thrifty ideas for dressing up a table

Catch ya later kiddos

Sarah

  11. Love your table setting with the bottles. I can’t get any vintage bottles here where I live, but some plain new bottles would do and those I can get here, so defenitely will try this out!! Thanks for sharing!

  12. Sarah, Your tablescape looks fabulous and the best thing about it is the thriftiness of it. How much better can it get?! I am not great at tablescapes. Maybe that’s why I need this book, or one lik eit. I would love, love, love to win that book. So now I will facebook you.
    Hugs, Cindy S

  18. Simply beautiful, Sarah! I think I like your version even more than the one on the cover! It is simply elegant and the best part, free! Can’t beat that. Nice job, and thanks for the giveaway opportunity! Have a great week!

  19. This is gorgeous! There is really so much beauty in simplicity. I just posted about a bunch of milk glass vitamin jars that I got for 10 cents each. I think they would look so pretty all lined up on a table with a flower (peony, maybe?) in each. Thanks for sharing such inspiring photos!

  20. Love that table. So simple and fresh. Those bottles would look good anywhere. What a great find and what a great tablescape. Tweeted too.

  21. sue schubert says:

I’m going out to the recycle bin, to retrieve some bottles, I usually use old milk jugs for flowers, love your blog, love the beachy feel, shame I live a few hundred kilometers away from the nearest salt water.

  22. Love your tablescapes and vignettes. Need to have friends over for drinks, too. Sounds lovely. Thanks for the giveaway!

  23. The bright flowers were set so beautifully against the blue gray of the ocean. The combo made the photos surreal. Great job! Love that you feature my baby girl, Lindsey of the pleated poppy on your blog.

  24. Theresa Collins says:

Hi Sarah, Heres a tip for you I was desperate for something to put on my table, last moment as usual for me . I had a roll of wrapping paper right colour it actually looked pretty good and I recieved some very favourable comments. No washing up after just threw it in the bin.
    Kind regards little South Aussie,
    Theresa.
ps. would luv the book & thanks for the book depository tip I now get alot of fitnes related books for work very cheap.

  25. I could definitely use some table decorating ideas! Love your blog.
    Cheers,
    Linda

  26. Beth Miller says:

Love it! so simple yet so beautiful! Makes me happy.

  27. So soothing. You must have an endless source of sunbleached aqua bottles. I never met an aqua bottle or a seashell I didn’t like either.

  28. Beautiful tablescape! I love how simple and uncluttered it is. Having a white backdrop makes all the difference I think. My favourite way to tablescape on a budget is also to use a variety of bottles/vases to hold a small number of flowers, the impact is so much greater. I also love using mirrors and candles, especially at night. I’m not sure if this giveaway is open to Canadian residents too but I would love to win!
    Have a great weekend
    Janice

  29. Your table makes me feel like I’m on vacation. :-) I catch myself taking deep, peaceful breaths and have to fight down the urge to leave work, run home and put on a sundress immediately. :-) Today I’m going to see what I can do to cheer up my nook with what I have. :-)

  30. Beverly Palmer says:

Absolutely beautiful arrangement! I just started my collection of glassware so this book would be perfect.

  31. So simple and pretty!

My thrifty table scapes generally consist of a handful of tea lights in a low dish, and if the season is right some pretty stems in a few of my white bud vases.

  32. oh I love, love, the chair on the beach! So simple yet elegant!! I would so love having the book!

  33. i went to our major rummage sale last night and couldn’t find a darned thing! how come you have all the luck?

nevertheless i am photographing my tablescapes per your inspiration. wow, we couldn’t be more different in style, but: i agree with you on this: whatever makes your heart sign when you walk past it with an armful of folded laundry IS good design! that’s my aim too :-)

  34. I love the look of your table with the glass bottles and fresh flowers!

I’d love to win your giveaway book – it looks so interesting.

  35. Jennifer S. says:

Your table is beautiful. I can’t keep flowers on my table (or anywhere in the house) because my cat chews on them.

  36. Clearly you bring out the best in everything. Well done, this is clean, stylish simplicity. You’ve set me thinking- since Autumn has arrived down here in Victoria, perhaps this would look good with flowers and/or leaves…

    Blessings
    Denise
