I don't normally stop by here on Sundays, but seeing as it is a long weeend here in Australia I find myself with more time on my hands than usual and thought I'd quickly stop in and say G'day.
So, every morning in Beach Cottage Land we have been waking up to mysteriously carved out orange skins dropped almost allover the place…on the back steps, all over the barbecue, on the outside table and we'd deduced that it was probably possums stealing our oranges from that lovely old tree I told you about the other day.
Sitting out on the deck this arvo, a nice cup of tea, a magazine and minding my own business all of a sudden a huge swoop of white whipped past…swiped an orange from the next door neighbour's tree and landed on their out-building roof.
…and this guy was caught in the act…
A sight that in my old life in England would only have been seen in a zoo.
I'll leave you with that Australian eye-candy and see y'all next week.
Enjoy the footie.

Wonderful shots…with your new camera I wonder?
Enjoy the long w/end Beach Cottage
Ohh…Yu are sooooooo lucky!!!!
What brilliant pictures. You only have to train him to tidy up now! Have a good rest of the weekend.
Oh Sarah just wait till he brings his mates with him. Sometimes weve had nearly 100 of them here and you have to watch them or they’ll start to chew on your house!
So Cute…
However, they can be very destructive, as in a MAJOR way!!
Lovely photos Sarah.
I was wondering if NSW had a long weekend as we do here in Victoria, I now know you do!
enjoy, Gail xo
Cheeky little fellow! Enjoy the rest of your weekend
Well at least the little guy is colour coded to match the rest of beach cottage, enjoy!
Heehee just what I was going to say Big Wren!
Beautiful. Love cockatoos, such characters!
So he takes your neighbour’s oranges and hops the fence to eat them – what a fly boy!
I know you always know where you have landed in life, but sometimes don’t you KNOW you know!
………..and at home we only had to worry about seagulls!
Sarah, I’m back from the African safari….what an amazing trip, the most awesome time of my entire life! I’m posting loads of pics and stories – got up to lots of mischief with my three gal pals, you know how it is when a bunch of Brits get together!!!! We had a ball……perhaps we’ll tackle OZ next time, ha! ha!
Happy weekend – have enjoyed looking back through your posts I missed while in Africa.
Hugs – Mary
What a great story and photo! Thanks.
How beautiful and exciting!
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday!
How exciting to capture such a scene with the camera! Enjoy your long weekend – hope you find more excitment to photograph!
Oh yeah… and it’s pictures like this one that are going to make sure I don’t stop wanting to move in for a few months vacation.
He’s beautiful!!! Definitely better than possum!
So cockatoo’s fly free around there?? Wild! Love it! What a cutie. Orange thief…but a cutie!
Unbelievable! I’ve never seen one outside the zoo. And he matches your decor–how thoughtful of him. ; )
Haha, that’s funny!!! Even he knew that if he wants to visit he has to wear his white suit!
)
smiles,
Erika
LOL! We were all thinking the same thing! How coincidental that he’s the perfect color for the Beach Cottage!
Amazing, too, that they fly free over there. People buy them for a pretty price and keep them as pets in cages here in the States.
Hugs ~

priceless
I would have never guessed that was what was eating the oranges! He is beautiful–from a distance. I’ve never been much of a bird person up close. Much nicer to appreciate them from far away.
Of Course you even have white beachy birds who do mischievous things around your cottage…
What a hoot! I wish those were the culprits who ate our citrus…alas, nothing so intriguing as that…ours are eaten by fruit rats who only appear to be able to fly! ;}
m ^..^
How cool to have those things flying around free! But if they are destructive…maybe not.
Nice pics Sarah.

Fabulous pics of the cheeky little rascal Sarah! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend

Sara, I would love to chat with you about your camera. I just treated myself to a Canon 5D Markll. I am cursing myself, not because I don’t know that it was a great investment…. but the learning curve is just about killing me. I had a Canon xs and knew it backward and forward. My darling daughter took over that one.
Mine, too!
What lenses are you using? I hope we can keep in touch…. in your free time, of course!
PS I adore
1. your home
2. your creativity
3. your sense of searching for peace, and the important things in life
4. your family
5. Australia
OK, that’s it for now!!!! Thank you for sharing your bit of paradise.

Top of the pecking order too those Cockies. We watch the birds on our bird feeder and we have noticed the ‘pecking’ order amongst all the different types of birds and the cockies are top dog. They have a heirarchy between themselves too. Quite fascinating amongst the birds!
You have the life…
Lovely photos of your new little visitor.
But….I must say, my son lives in the hills near Melbourne, and the cockies literally eat the some of the wooden houses in his street, they have eaten the wooden posts on the verandah to pencil thin. People do everything they can to discourage them as they can be so destructive to wooden homes and hard to get rid of.
Though I do understand your thrill of seeing this little chap eating his daily orange.
Great photos Sarah. Those cockies can be so destructive.

I noticed lots of cockatoos in our suburb in Melbourne not long after the Black Saturday Bushfires in Feb 2009. They were everywhere even eating Chadstone Shopping Centre (biggest shopping centre in Melbourne). Sadly when the fires swept through it burnt all the trees so they had to move neighbourhoods to find food. Not so many around now! Love the photos Sarah.
Sarah, You crack me up…even the feathered visitor is white….love that!
Right place, right time!
wow sarah! i bet you see a lot of different wildlife there esp birds that is such a beautiful pic! and thank you for dsharing on a sunday too!!
KIm
how beautiful! So jealous of the beautiful things you get to see every day. =)
You are so lucky Sarah, where I live every spring the sky used to be black with huge flocks of the black cockatoo’s. They would swoop in and eat and then leave to go and nest for the evening who knows where. Sadly now we hardly see the flocks anymore and when we do they are in small numbers. Unfortunately due to urban sprawl they have become endangered and all this has happened over the last 10 years. At least this is finally being addressed and hopefully future generations will get to appreciate these little comical creatures.
Ah, to dream of a land where white parrots fly and orange peels drop from the sky! Love it!
xx Suzanne
well…darling photo.
lol.
I {heart} birds.

If you are willing to buy real estate, you will have to get the home loans. Moreover, my sister commonly uses a financial loan, which seems to be the most useful.
