G’day.
I hope you enjoyed Mother’s Day…mine was simple, a stunning bushwalk by the sea and being pampered by my kiddos and husband, a long long time in a candlelit bath with a great book and not much else…just how I like it.
Now, I thought you might like a look at what I found. This old bike.
I found this rusty old lady while on a recent treasure hunting trip and simply couldn’t leave her…I mean she was free….so she had to come home with me, even though I have a perfectly lovely new and shiny, pale blue beach cruiser (with a wicker shopping basket may I add) bike that I got for my birthday last year…this though more of the real McCoy….rust, big old handlebars, lovely spokes…I have to say I’ve kinda fallen in love with her, even though she is painted in one of my least favourite colours…
I had ideas to do her up, give her a facelift…but after her living in the shed for a little while I kinda like her just like this…and she’s staying that way..she will be our around town bike…
…we wanted to put a crate on the front and loved the idea of using that lemonade one I found a while ago…after many of you told me in this post that it is an icon from Australia that many of you remembered from your childhood…the distintive yellow Swing lemonade crates, I felt it would be a shame to whitewash it but rather I thought it might be nice on the front of this old bike…I still think it would rock in white though…both the bike and the box :-)…but for now I am sticking with authentic vintage…
OK I’ll see you soon…I am painting that unit from the other day, making Tuscan Sausage in my crockpot and I am about to embark on a whole day of vintage treasure hunting…’cos I really need some more stuff in my garage lol!
And now it’s your turn…yep you, the one reading…
I need a name for my new lady friend…
was thinking perhaps you could leave me your ideas? Lucy maybe? Bella?
Whaddya reckon?
