So I put this one together with Mother’s Day in mind, what we will eat here I have no idea, as you know by Friday I will be very much on strike.
To be honest, I have had not the best day as a mummy, one of my kiddos is not right and I am worried, we went to the doctor’s today…
I wasn’t going to come here ‘cos my head space is weird, but now that the house is quiet, it feels right to just sorta sit here and type, do my thing and just be me and waffle on about cr*p on tables, beachy decor and coastal style.
That calms me.
It’s pretty easy to criticize things like that isn’t it?
… I choose to waffle on about nice coastal beachy things, foof my house, take selfies, cook homey things and I like to play beach cottages…
That choice has been the best thing I have ever done. Period.
Coming here for me, on nights like tonight when things are a bit, well, edgy and choices to revel in waffle, is like the old lady on the ferry with the chicken and sweetcorn soup, I do it because I can
K?
I am off my soapbox now, well nearly…
…you don’t want to meet me in a dark alley tonight and criticize my choices, it might not be quite as pretty as this table…
Right, now we have that clear, let’s do pretty coastal beachy decor tables
this is Beach Cottage doing vintage Mother’s Day with white and blue, a bit of coastal and of course, Mother’s Day means pink!
I’ve done the hanging bottle thing before, (more of a how to on how I do it here), to be quite honest, it’s one of those tricks that’s so darn easy but has full-on impact…and I’ve done it a lot with a very bare table (not like this one) with just jam jars, a few lanterns and tea-lights (if you do that please be careful not to leave the candles on their own)…
…most of the stuff on the table is either thrifted (the table, mirror, ladder, vintage napkins, vintage door, and chairs are) or IKEA (plates, bowl, tea towel as centre runner) and glasses The KMart.
….pretty tables ease my **** tonight and I hope, possibly some of yours?
That is why I come back here, I dunno about you Beach Cottage girls, but I think that might be why you come back here too???
Next time
Sarah
p.s. Barley is blogging & see daily pics here xo

Sarah, I have a teeny question. What did you hang the bottles with? Plastic wire or thin wire?
Wow, so many lovely messages! I’m sure that there are a gazillion blogs out there that are not to my taste, but I choose to read the ones that feature pics and stories of things that I love to read and drool over. So why would you read a blog that doesn’t appeal to your style/taste whatever and then criticize it because it isn’t?
I love everything about your blog and I appreciate all of the effort that you put in each day. You’ve given me a confidence to decorate my home in a style I love, I enjoy using your recipes and I love reading about your family…Barley included. It just amazes me that we are so spoilt to have all of these lovely blogs at our fingertips whenever we want. I haven’t bought a home magazine since discovering A Beach Cottage :)
I know that I’m beating a dead horse (so to speak) when I say that I love your blog, but I really do! I love the style of your home, reading about your recipes & your family. :) The fact that people say such negative things means that they aren’t happy in their own lives, and feel the need to spread such negativity. Well — ignore them!! You obviously love what you do, & we love you for it! So keep up the positive thinking! <3
xoxo
P.S. – I hope everyone feels better soon!
How can anyone criticize what one woman/Mom does to calm herself when one of her children doesn’t feel right. I don’t understand.
What you do is fabulous, wonderful, awesomeness. I love love love it.
i love the clean & crisp decor of your home. so great! i noticed the vintage crate in the background. check out my etsy store for more vintage crates with fun rope accessories.
thanks for all the fun posts!
xoxo
Yes!!! That’s exactly how I feel too, Sarah! It is sooo calming to look at beautiful things. I love your beachy setting and I so hope your little one is feeling OK now. Love your blog and have just realised how long it’s been since I’ve visited. x
Sorry, it posted too quickly. Didn’t mean to be anonymousx
