I love a maxi and am 5'8" so I can wear them, but at age 51 I just don't feel comfortable in them anymore. I have a black flowered maxi skirt that I wore a few years ago with a cute black short-sleeved t-shirt and black flip flops. I felt very svelte and fashionable when I was 48 is the new 38. It's funny how just a few short years can change one's opinion about certain styles. However, I think you rock it, girl. It sure is a pretty dress. I love a maxi and am 5’8″ so I can wear them, but at age 51 I just don’t feel comfortable in them anymore. Dresses just don't like me! I gave up battling with them long ago as I just can't find a style that works for me and my shape. The rare dress wearing exception was my son's wedding when I just couldn't avoid "the dress". Fortunately the wedding was on the beach in Hawaii and I was able to get away with a floaty, silk maxi from the Camilla range. I still had all the wobbly bits happening but tried to forget about them and enjoy the special day. There's no doubt tho that when you find the "right" dress it just puts you in a different headspace. And as for your shoulders Sarah, I say wear them with pride. I'd be happy to have some more width on my shoulders to balance out the hips! When you say wide shoulders I immediately think of Jenny Falconer of TV fame and in my eyes she is just gorgeous!! She only has to open her mouth and speak with that accent and she has me mesmerised ;-) There's a certain man around this house that also thinks she is pretty special! I love them on basically everyone and I love wearing them! I think they are as comfy as it gets (love hiding the no shave legs :) and I love all the many styles they come in! I wore one almost everyday while I was pregnant, especially towards the end when I was huge, that flowy maxi fit right over my big belly. I am 5'4 and smaller framed but big busted and I still feel like I can wear them. I wear a tshirt under mine (not a tank top girl) and I love it! You look great in yours!
