It's been a busy week here at the Beach Cottage.
I'll just say road trip + sandstorm + sports event = one tired Beach Cottage mum.
While I know you come here for decorating and white paint and sad old furniture today it's just me and all this around me, and not because it's all so purrrfect over here in beachcottageland but more because, I dunno why, but I feel so very grateful at the moment for, you know, just all the mundane things we do everyday now in our new life here by the sea..it's good to just do routine stuff isn't it?
I recently read a blog that said that blogging had shown her, through her camera lens, how her mundane stuff and more, her life, was actually pretty darn good...I found myself nodding in agreement that blogging has opened my eyes & today I feel like that too
Today I'm very grateful for
my walk on the beach
buying flowers and fave thrifted vintage things
my take away coffee on this bench
vintage whitewashed chairs and printed hessian
dreaming of having one of these
our tatty old Australian cottage
wave watching
slouchy old white sofas, putty stripes, Friday night and a pile o' books
Can you see why I'm grateful?
I think so
Have a great weekend - be sure to fit in some treasure hunting
I will be ;-)

Thanks Sarah for that beautiful post. I'm grateful for the technology to be able to read this post :-)

while the computer was doing its magic connecting thing i was thinking, "i'm on my way to australia!" what a marvel, and a treat and then there was your message about appreciating all that we have and can do. it's humbling! i hope you don't have to dust and dust after the storm. (i get lots of dust in california) (i don't like dusting so much, but i DO appreciate the things i get to dust!) ;) lovely photos! have a great weekend! jkj

Blogs do help us to treasure the everyday, don't they? Some people have been posting recently about Gratitude Journals - your post is along the same lines - if you don't reflect on what is good in life, you may miss it!
Still no window photo. Where can I have put it? Thanks so much for your mention the other day, though.

So very true, love the concept of gratitude journals, they held me together through some tricky patches. Our modern blogs are a great vehicle for public gratitude in celebrating the ordinary little moments that make our day.
Thanks for sharing your highlights.

Gorgeous pics as usual :) I am usually very positive about my life, but we're going through a tough time here too at the moment, and it's harder, you know, when you live in a grotty town that wasn't exactly your first choice!! If I had a beach, I'm sure it would be a lot easier to be less ungrateful lol. Thankfully, I have lots to be grateful for, and lots of projects and a beautiful daughter who doesn't give me a moment's worry (ahem, well, nearly!!!), and a partner who is wonderful. So all is well with the world. *smiles*

Hi Sarah
I've just discovered your blog and it's gorgeous! I live near the sea in Cornwall, England and adore it. The weather is generally rubbish but I love beachcombing and creating with my finds! I think the decor in your cottage is beautiful, perhaps when my children have left home I'll have a white sofa! Best wishes x

hi sarah,
there are two blogs i read everyday and yours is one of them. What a lovely post.
God sure has given us beauty in the world. Thank you so much highlighting all the blessings to be enjoyed.
Rich or a little on the skint side, life is to be enjoyed. Your blog is certainly one of the things i am thankful for.
THank YOu!

Yes, a pile of books and magazines. And I'm better than good to go! A quiet evening, the doggies by my side. Drooling over decorating and gardening magazines. Cozy in my little house. Not by the sea. More like by a big highway. But inside, who's to know the difference!

Beautiful pics--as usual! You are certainly blessed! Just wanted to let you know I took the block off my FB (I didn't know it was on!) if you tried to go to see the video I did of our campfire dinner at Sequoia National Park... Sorry about that, I didn't know it was on. :-s

dear sarah....take time out & relax...
hey..with both my boys at uni...I remember ALL too well the saturday morning sports...
driving back & forward to school about 100 times a day over the westgate bridge in melbourne...(well maybe not quite that many times!!)...
going to school concerts...parent teacher interviews...
kind of thought at the time when will it ever end..??
BUT now with both boys independent...at uni...(both overseas together at the minute)...
I am home alone (hubby away)...AND YOU KNOW WHAT?? I miss the MUNDANE!!!
when you have the mundane life...you kind of think when will it end...
then when it ends. YOU kind of MISS it...if you know what I mean..??
so I think I have realised...MUNDANE is GOOD!! especially as a MUM....
soooo enjoy EVERY MUNDANE moment...
xx andrea

Ahhh, Sarah! What a beautiful blog you've presented us this morning to start our day. Just lovely to view the gorgeous photos you always seem to be so successful at. They alone speak peacefulness and tranquility and I'm always in a better place after visiting your blog. It truly has been my favorite blog since coming into the realization of blogland, and I love how real you are with the ups and downs, the lazy days and crazy days, and just your sharing from the heart.
You have been an inspiration to me throughout this past year or so, and I now look at things differently and love my little visits to Austrailia through your blog. Thanks for being such a gifted blogger and for sharing your soul with strangers, whom you can now call your friends and students. lol I've learned so much through your openness and sharing of your beach cottage redo. Love it all-

You'd stop dreaming about having a boat the first time you need to get oil! :-) (We gratefully unloaded a boat when we purchased the shorehouse.)
I just love these photos! Always nice to see your life outside of the beach cottage, too.

A lovely post Sarah. I am grateful that other bloggers take the time to show their gratitude to the good things in life as well. Too much complaining and criticism in our world, and what joy it is to come see an uplifting post with wonderful restful photos to start off the day.
Joy of all joys.
It's so great when we take the time as well to teach our children to have gratitude and to stop and notice the little things in life. I constantly strive to be better at this, but alas it is a struggle in our bustling world. Your post is such a great reminder to me. Again, thank you and Mr. BC for putting up with you (lol) and your lovely blog. It always bring me joy each and every time I read it, your wit and style is so great and refreshing.
