Well hello there! My name is Sarah.

welcome to BC Land!

I am a full-time mother to three, cottage owner & blogger here at abeachcottage.com.

I am living the good life after a huge seachange from London to the sunnier climes of life in the Lucky Country Australia and I started abeachcottage to log the doing-up of our old cottage on the beaches of Sydney…

but it’s much more than that….I’ve heard it’s called a lifestyle blog and to translate that it means I ramble on about stuff going on in my life and my tatty old cottage including decorating, painting, dressing up tables, thrifting for vintage delights, the joy of flowers, making things, junking, oh and sometimes just life and shoes and often ruffles and crochet.

I love sharing tips and tutorials and ideas on how I give old furniture a new lease of life on here but to be quite frank somtimes I often blog about what is on my mind at any given time, that will normally include white paint and vintage furniture and things.... one day I might blog about my obsession for the most beautiful ballet flats in the world, the next about washing powder or some amazing old vintage thing I just came across, oh and there are always makeovers going on...

I love to blog about the latest whim or fad I am going through plus you’ll always find heaps of flowers and I often blog about shoes…ballet flats where I force my teenage son to take photos of me standing on a chair and shoes I have styled up to their eyeballs,plus my famous Hunter boots & green chair pop up often

I love to play stylists, but no I am not a stylist, never have been…

the first time I ever worked as a stylist was for myself when I picked up a camera and started blogging

….and that isn’t real styling…I mean I have a real family to work around in here and for the record a very small budget (most of my money goes on shoes and ruffles)

& no I don’t quite have people bashing down my door asking me to be a stylist, though of course all enquiries more than welcome at any time haha…

you’ll find my Sitting Room, the tiny room at the front of our cottage with two oddly placed doors, old sash windows, wooden floors and our old sofa we shipped all the way from England the scene for many of my styling sessions, plus the old deck out the back where I love to sit in the evening with a Limoncello…

I often like to blog about food too and we do a whole lot of recipe sharing on Facebook…if you are here for the famous BC Go To Muffin recipe, which you can throw just about anything at and it still works, go here, and more food and drink things are here,

I also like to spend time making things when I can….clay tags have been a big thing here for a while now too….there’s a tutorial on how I make them here...

and there is always always a lot of chalkboard paint and this old door is featured many a time
